  1. I have a miss on one cylinder, not sure of the cause just yet. My wife doesn't drive anymore(health issues) and it's been sitting for some time with year old gas in the tank. Starts fine but sits there and putts, one cyl. not firing. I'm assuming the '94 has the older system monitor which doesn't work with the OBDII reader, so just wondering what will work without investing a ton of cash. The local Lexus stealer wants $100 just to hook up to it just to give me an idea of what's going on, decided against that. Guess I can pull the plugs on the front side but with my luck it will be something on the back side of the engine. That involves more work than I care to get involved in since it appears I'd have to pull the intake just to get at something back there. I'm also assuming it could be an injector misfiring due to the bad gas. Maybe just taking it out and running it hard for a time might clear it up, maybe put in some Techron or other injector cleaner. Any suggestions?
  2. My wife's '94 ES300 has 103k miles and the brakes give me some questionable action when sitting still. If the car is running and I press the brake pedal, it will go to the floor if I keep pressure on it. However, if I shut off the engine and press the brake....it's solid. If moving and hit the brakes, it stops on a dime. Just wondering if that's normal action or if the m/c needs rebuild/replace. Acts like there is a loss of pressure by the brake fluid leaking around the seals/cups in the m/c when you just sit and press, but a sudden pressing on the brake doesn't allow the leakage. Any suggestions, thoughts, etc., on this?

If the car is running and I press the brake pedal, it will go to the floor if I keep pressure on it. However, if I'm moving and hit the brakes it will put you through the windshield. I had a Lexus dealer tell me that's normal, I told him I've been driving longer than he's been breathing and asked if he had any other suggestions. No comment then. I'm wondering if the m/c is in need of repair/replacement or the power booster....or both. While I'm at it, I want to flush the entire brake line system. I plan to replace the rear pads in the process. Any suggestions on where to begin looking, my first thought is the m/c needs to go.
