  1. I just purchased a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS3 tires and love them !! They were a few dollars cheaper than the MXV4s, but are rated 500 AA A. They made the drive between Columbus, OH and Indianapolis, IN seem like a short ride. I had them road forced balanced and they rode so smooth and quiet..............Hopefully, I can get good mileage out of them as they were replacing a set of MXM4s
  2. I am looking for some feedback on tires. My son has a 98 LS400 that he purchased from my brother, who bought it new. They both swear that this car rides so much nicer than my 2006 LS430 and I am trying to figure out why. One of the things I looked at was the size of the tires. The LS400 has 225/60 -16 tires, while the LS430 has 245/45 - 18" tires. I am thinking besides the suspension maybe being softer on the 98 LS400, the lower profile tires on the LS430 may make it rider more firm. I drive for comfort first then performance next, so a less aggressive tire is fine for me. I have a company car that uses Pirelli Four Seasons P6 Plus tires in a 225/55 -18 tire and right now I have 79,000 miles on the tires and they still ride nice and have some decent tread left. However I can't seem to find the Pirellis in a 245/45-18, so I am wondering if the 225/55-18 would work on the LS430 and give me a little softer ride?? Also looking on feedback on Nitto tires, as the Big O Tires where I live swear up and down that the Michelins are no good, but the Nittos are a great tire. I have my tires force balanced at this store and he tells me that Michelins are hard to force balance as they are out of round. I am currently running Michelins on my car. Any opinions??
  3. I have a 2006 LS430 and I was wondering if there is anyway to make the music from my Iphone play through the ML Sound System using Bluetooth. I love it in my other car that uses Sync. I get in the car and my music plays immediately, but couldn't figure out if I could do it in the LS430. I have paired the Iphone with the ML system through blue tooth, but couldn't get the music to play.
  4. OK, so I kept the pressure on the dealer body shop and finally they "discovered" a bad bearing on the RF wheel. You think they would have checked that since they had to replace the wheel and brake rotor in that area anyway!! Needless to say, I will never be going back there again. The only reason I went there in the first place was it was near to where my wife had her accident and it was an insurance claim. I figured they would use OEM parts on all repairs, since my insurance company OKed OEM parts. After much screaming and shouting at the body shop management, my Lexus is running smooth again. I will not mention the dealer's name, but I live in Indianapolis and there are not really many choices!! Nuff said, I learned my lesson
  5. OK, so my wife had a "little" accident with the car and after the repairs It needed a 4 wheel alignment. I get it back from the shop and the steering pulls to the right, more than just a little bit. The guy from the Lexus collision center says that is normal to be set to drift to the right "in case you fall asleep at the wheel" you won't veer into oncoming traffic. Am I crazy or does that sound like a bunch of B/S ??
  6. I have the same issue. I am wondering if the amp is burned out....................My company car, a 2008 Mercury Sable Premier, has a sound system that puts my 2006 LS430 ML sound system to sleep.......that shouldn't be !!
  7. I purchased this about 4 months ago and I never really paid attention to it before, but I have noticed that even with the base at the maximum, I hear little to no bass sounds coming from my Mark Levinson sound system. I am thinking, if my company car has super bass (2008 Mercury Sable Premier) and sounds fantastic, shouldn't my great Lexus have super bass also. I am wondering, if there is a way to turn off the subwoofer (did the previous owner not like bass) or perhaps it became disconnected. What are the odds that it just stopped working altogether and is shot? I guess if I would at least hear a buzz when music played I would assume the speaker is cracked and needs glued or something, but I have no bass, when "Low Rider" plays on my CD and that "es no bueno" !!
  8. OK, I bought a 2006 LS 430 about 5 months ago and I love it. I have previously owned a '98 ES250 and a '02 GS 300. I have really enjoyed all of these Lexus's (or is it Lexi??). I looked for many months to specifically find a 2006 LS430 with under 50K miles. I live in Indiana and I found very few of them within 500 miles of my house. I eventually found a CPO one in Cincinnati, OH and called the dealer and made an appointment to see it right away. For some reason, I suspect because people love them or they drive them alot, it is hard to find that many used LS 430s, with lower mileage. After driving many cars over my 40 years of driving, I am more pleased with this car than any other new car I have leased and/or purchased. I plan on driving this car into retirement (200K+ miles) and according to my experience with Lexus this should be a no brainer. It is true that maintenance is more expensive than the average car, but then you have to go in less, so that makes up for it, since my time is worth money. Like it was stated in a previous post....there is no need to go to a Lexus dealership for maintenance. Just find yourself a good local mechanic and get it serviced regularly. If you look at the maintenance schedule, with the exception of the timing belt at 90K miles, most of the services are oil & filter and air filter changes (perhaps a tranny or coolant service) and lots of INSPECTIONS. My older brother owned a '98 LS400 and drove it for 10 years. He then sold it to my son, who is in the Air Force, with 119K miles on it back in 2008. My son has driven it for 4 1/2 years with it currently reading around 180K. Neither one of them actually take care of their cars like I do and yet this thing refuses to stop running. Earlier this year, this poor LS400 was the victim of a hail storm and took a serious beating. However he continues to drive this car and plans on doing so until it is no longer reliable, It has never broken down and only had routine maintenance done on it !! Once my older brother sold his '98 LS400 to my son he bought himself a 2008 LS460L. I can tell you right now that he wishes he could get back his LS400 or a good LS430, because he likes the ride and handling of the older versions better. I guess IMHO if you want a cushy ride with lots of bells and whistes and a reliabilty rating through the roof.........buy an LS 430. If you want a sports car and you like your mechanic, DON'T !! LOL
