  1. Awesome, thanks for the reply. It seems obvious in retrospect, but it's nice to have someone confirm the obvious. I'm going to try and just put some wire taps on Front(R/L) and then pull all the grounds to the white SGRND line. I already soldered the jack and damn-near shorted the "bottom" leads. Why the heck are they so close together? If this works, I'm going to put up a how-to on this site. It's not Earth-shattering..but I think it would be nice to have documented since it's not immediately obvious to the common noob how to translate from CDR+/CDR- to the RR RL FR FL wires. Thanks again, Sean
  2. I believe the attached image is my wiring setup. I'm hoping to just do what this fellow did here: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-second-generation/621789-aux-input-for-under-5-00-you-guys-wont-be-disappointed-pic-intensive.html, but I'm confused about the wiring. In his case, he has clearly labeled CDR+, CDR-, CDL+, CDL- wires into the amp. The ES300 seems to have RearR, RearL, FrontR, FrontL wires as the inputs to the amp. Unless those are little wire bundles with + and - in them... do they just use a common ground? Would I want to then splice in the Right+ to RearR and FrontR, Left+ to RearL and FrontL, then both Right- and Left- just both go to GRND? Any guidance would be enormously appreciated. It seems like it shouldn't be too complicated...I'm just not great with analog logic..or audio. Sean Document:.pdf
  3. Hi Folks, So I'm looking to replace the radio inputs to the stock amplifier (on a '95 ES300) with a standard 3.5mm audio -> RCA cable (http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B000V0G2C4). Are there RCA inputs on the stock amp that I can use? Would I need to just cut off the RCA heads and splice the cable in to join the radio cables feeding into the amp? Also, is there a wiring diagram or picture floating around that would help to identify the input cables to the amp? Thanks! Sean
  4. Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'll see if I can take a look at the calipers.
  5. Hi All, So I've been lurking the forums for a while and have checked out the FAQ and all permutations of "ES300", "Brakes", and "Grinding" I could think of and I don't *think* this particular case has been covered. I just bought this 1995 ES300 from a nice couple in SoCal (relevant because it's only driven in a warm, dry climate. Rust is a non-issue here I'm led to believe). This puppy's old (190,000 miles) but the prev. owners say they replaced all the belts, brake pads, and tires 3 months ago as part of routine maintenance. Everything about the car feels great - no wobbling or funny driving on the highway up to 80 MPH, but about 60% of the time when we brake and come to a stop (no matter how slow or soft the stop) the car rewards us with a little slow grinding noise as if the ABS were kicking in. It happens *so* frequently that I'm getting a little worried about it. Is this a known issue? I've only owned one other car in my life ('94 Subary Legacy) and it's ABS felt very similar but only kicked in during hard stops. What do you guys think? Could it be a brake issue or an ABS calibration problem maybe? Are the struts about to give out and send my fiance and I to a fiery death? Thanks in advance for any input! P.S. I have very little ownership experience, but grew up doing fairly extensive mechanical repairs on my dad's car (as a little helper) so despite not actually knowing very much I'm perfectly happy pulling things off and getting dirty. I do have the repair manual PDF from this forum on my computer.
