  1. Car is a 1999 ES 300. Car was throwing codes for p1354 and p0420. Replaced OCV and car is no longer giving p1354. After driving about 60 miles the P0420 code came back. From research on this site it appears that one of the O2 sensors is the likely culprit. Do you really have to remove the drivers seat to replaced the after cat sensor? Car is CA emissions. I do not live in CA, if it is the cat does it matter if cat is not approved for CA. By this I mean is the programming in the computer different and cause problems? My mechanic cleaned MAF when the car had multiple misfire codes and now this P0420 code is coming up. Could it be related? Any thoughts would be appreciated
  2. I have a question on my 1999 Lexus ES 300. I recently just bought it. The other day I drove the car and it jerked while on the highway. By jerking I mean it felt like the RPMs dropped and then went right back up. I took it to my mechanic and he said that he checked the codes and cleaned the MAF and fixed a a loose wire for the tracation control. He did not tell me the codes but assured me this would fix it. Today while driving it the car jerked again. I pulled the codes and got P1354 and P0420. My understanding is the P1354 is for the oil control valve. My question is does the symptoms seems to fit with this code? If so what is the part number for the oil control valve? Also is there any likely culprits for the P0420. Both times the car does the jerking thing the light comes on it and it runs and drives fine after. The CEL light and TRAC Off light is on.
