  1. Does anyone know of good Lexus repair shops in Austin, Texas that do quality work at a price less than the Lexus dealer in Austin? Im looking to get my timing belt / water pump replaced and the lexus dealer wants a $1400 to do this. Thanks, Wagsy
  2. Anthonyiez, so you are saying its just a matter of getting the balancing right? I got my new tires at Discount Tire three weeks ago and my GS400 shakes from 60 on up. Is there anything I can tell them which will help them balance my wheels right??? Do I ask for those centering devices there too?? THanks Wagsy
  3. I have the exact same problem but have not replaced anything yet. I just got some new yokohamas and the problem seems to be worse now at the same speeds as before. Can warped rotors cause this problem - brakes pulsate when stopping btw? Just wondering if I need rotors, re-balance, alignment, spacers, or all four done?????
  4. http://www.lextasy.com/cross_drilled_slott...s_1131_prd1.htm ← Steve - those look good - it shows all four which I assume is the front and rear, can you confirm - 4 for $255? Also, are the holes drilled in the rotor after it has been manufactured or are the holes cast in the rotor during manufacturing? I have heard about stress fractures developing (from excess heat) on slotted/drilled rotors where the holes are drilled. Please confirm Thanks, Wagsy
  5. I need to replace my front rotors because of warping - but I checked some online web sites for parts and the front rotors are $120/each. Napa and Autozone have them at a fraction of the cost like around 30 bucks. I have been told that the lexus brake pads are the best around for a gs400 so I dont think I will deviate there, but are the rotors that much different? Tell me why I should by Lexus parts here???? Wagsy
  6. Does anyone know what is included in the trailer package for a LX470. Ive got a dealer that says the trailer package includes more than just the receiver hitch and at a cost of $797. What else is included in the trailer package? This cost seems really high for just a receiver hitch. wagsy22
  7. I have the opportunity to purchase either a 2001 LX470 with 40K miles (without trailer pkg or Mark Levinson) or a 2001 LX470 with 47K miles with a third party warranty. The difference in price is $1K. For some reason, I am concerned about the miles for both - should I be? What other items should I be aware of on a vehicle with this amount of mileage like maintenance, etc. on both vehicles? Thanks, Wagsy22
  8. Tested my new tires on a run to OKlahoma over the holidays. Tires are great. They are really quiet and stick like glue even in extremely wet conditions. I couldnt be happier. However, I do have a slight vibration which is most pronounced at 68mph that I am trying to isolate. I know I have warped rotors cause my brakes vibrate (mostly on downhill braking) but dont know if I should replace the rotors, get a wheel alignment, and re-balance the tires?? I dont have a bunch a money to throw at it right now................ Wagsy22
  9. I have a couple of questions about two options on a 2001 LX470. The first is: 1) How much of a difference is the Mark L. sound system over the stock Lexus system? 2) What is included in the "towing package" option? Thanks in advance, Wagsy
  10. Anyone out there have images or pictures of their GS400 Differential? Im planning on changing it but dont have a manual and am too lazy to figure out where the drain/refill plugs are......can anyone help? 1998 GS400 Wagsy :D
  11. Well - I ordered the Yokohama H4S. I hope the minor reduction in speed rating will translate to a softer ride. I was really dead set on the Toyos but opted for the Yokohamas just based on the treadwear. I had the XGT Z4 Michelins which were great but expensive. They did grow harsher as they aged......I hope I dont regret my decision. I paid $128 per tire at Discount Tires in Austin, Texas for the H4S. Could have got them cheaper at Tirerack but did want the hassle....
  12. Thanks freak - I actually have 245/45/17s on it and they look great - if I go back to 235s, will they be that much skinnier?? Will I be able to tell? I think they are a little cheaper too. Which ones would you choose out of the ones I mentioned or is there something better than those ( remember, I want same performance only quieter tires) Wagsy
  13. Ok - I h have to get tires on my GS400 - I have almost worn out my Michelin XGTs but got 60K miles on them by diligently rotating them every oil change. As those tires aged, they became louder and louder which I hate. I want same performance as those but quieter and at a cheaper price. I have narrowed it down to the Toyo Proxes 4 or the Yokohama Avid H4S or V4S. Would anyone recommend anything else other than these two for my above requirements? Thks, Wagsy22
