  1. I went to a junk yard and purchased a new electronic air/ heating control unit (from a 2000 ES 300). Installed into my 1997 Lexus ES 300. Plugs were perfectly compatible (although I did not check exact pin color and position wiring). The fan and motor settings work great, but the air conditioning and heating will not work, when I force either to come on. I assume the wiring is different? but I cannot find a wiring diagram to compare my 1997 to the 2000 wiring. Any ideas?
  2. I am replacing my radio, because I cannot read the LCD screen (radio works fine, a few back lights out too). Junk yard had radio for $30.00. My radio says 'THEFT DETERRENCE' on it. Factory radio. QUESTION: When I swap radios, will the new radio work, or is there some disabling feature I need to de-activate / activate, because of the THEFT DETERENCE feature on my original radio ? Thank you.
  3. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to find a driver side door handle (exteior). I've tried ebay, all autozone-sih retailers, all on-line sources. etc. Thank you.
  4. What is a heat / ac dash control unit?
  5. My Heat/ AC dash-board-unit is all soft-touch, push button controlled. My Heat / AC fan will come on full blast, at the most random time of day, and under any/all drive and weather conditions. Then...i cannot lower the fan setting (to say 1/4 to 1/2 blast). Then....I can't turn in off, unless I hold my finger down on the 'OFF' button, and wedge a 'credit card' in to hold it in the 'off' depressed position. I can 'reset' things when I turn off car and remove my credit card. But then....who knows when it will come on again. I've had to warn my passenger, because it can scare you at first! Help!
  6. I found it! I saw a similar trunk thread. Solution was: Glove compartment has a Trunk Button activaiton / deactivation toggle switch. I must have gone to my glove compartment and accidentially diasbled the trunk. All is well thanks to this site. Sure am glad I didn't take to a mechanic for help!
  7. I tried today to push button in the 'lock' and 'unlocked' positions - both did not open the trunk when I pushed the trunk button.
  8. My 1997 Lexus ES300 trunk push button (located on the driver side - left, dash) will not actuate (pop) my trunk open. My battery remote can sucessfully pop the trunk and my key can manually open the trunk. So I think it's the push button..... I am a novice mechanic, and don't know electrical, wiring, panel work, etc. very well. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to fix this problem. Thank you.
