  1. I see that you, too, live in the Detroit area. I have a 2000 GS300 and I'm looking for a reputable shop to do some maintenance and mods. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks for your help.
  2. This site is a godsend for all the good help and info that gets shared! I've seen a lot on changing Gen1 cabin air filters and their location. I've searched the web and found one reference that the location was changed for the Gen2 models and is now behind the carpet, next to the accelerator and behind an access panel. Before I start hacking my interior - has anybody done this and am I in the right place?? Thanks for your input
  3. Thanks for the news. I travel through Mississauga several times a year on business and maybe I will follow your lead at Wal-Mart. Cheers
  4. I don't know about the 93s but the 2000 that I own has a chip in the key that must communicate with the vehicle before the car will start and the chip needed to be programmed in a very specific and elaborate way for the new key to work. Again, 93s might be different.
  5. Mine also came with only one and the local dealer was going to charge north of $190 for a full-on key with remote fob. A local locksmith clued me in to a website called StreetKeys. Check `em out and see if it helps. It worked great for me; I picked up a valet key as well and I'm all set. Good luck
  6. Do you use the Lexus dealership for this? Do they charge the $60 you mentioned or is that through a separate shop?
  7. Thanks for the input. I'll pick up some fluid from the Toyota dealer and have it on hand for the job. Cheers
  8. I'm the proud new owner of a 2000 GS 300 and took it to a Lexus dealer for 45,000 oil change. I was shocked to hear their recommendation for a $300+ tranny flush and fluid change. The service guide that I have doesn't suggest that service until 60,000, although I've read posts that recommend the procedure every 24,000. I understand the need for routine maintenance and I plan to keep the car for many years but at the same time I'm naturally skeptical about dealers and unsuspected service recommendations. Let me learn from your experiences to prepare myself for future visits. Much thanks!
