  1. It is called....AIR CONTROL VALVE (ACV)....not to be confused with the IDDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE (IACV) which is mounted in the top/front part of the engine. Anyway, this AIR CONTROL VALVE (ACV) is the one bolted to the PS Pump and has the 2 small hoses connected to little nipples. If you follow the next link you will be able to read about a way you can take the ACV out and just plug the hole...(YES, this will eliminate the 2 small hoses, you can plug the hoses or just remove them and plug the nipples on top/middle of the engine and on the black air intake tube....where the hoses where connected). I removed these hoses and have not notice any difference on the way the power steering behaves and neither have many other members whom also removed the ACV.

(SCROLL DOWN AND READ THE PART THAT SAYS; "Removal of ACV valve, and Plugging such valve with the ACV itself")

    I HOPE THIS HELPS!

Do you think the PS Flush steps Neofate posted will work on my 1995 model. The link states 90-94.

I followed the all the suggestions and instructions as described in the post. Everything worked out great. Power Steering issues gone.

  2. I replaced the PS Steering pump in my 95 LS400. The problem I am having is the main supply line will not stop leaking. I don’t know if I’m missing a washer, gasket or something I’m unaware of. What I have now is a copper washer on the pump side and a copper washer on the other side with the bolt through and tightened. Can you tell me if I am missing something or doing something wrong? It is leaking right at the connection to the new PS pump.

    Thank you.

Where did you buy the new pump?

  5. I don't think you could buy just the plug as it would come as part of the complete wiring loom, the option would seem to be to find a breaker locally and cut off the plug then carefully join it into the existing loom, all connections should be soldered, well insulated and shrink sleeving fitted, then taped as per the original loom.

Obviously make sure the battery is disconnected when working on this.

Thank you. I was thinking that would work but I wanted to double check.

  6. The plug or (pigtail) that connects into the alternator was broken while I was taking out my power steering pump. Has anybody had to replace this plug? If so where did you find it and do you know the part number? The plastic surrounding the three plug has broken away and I’m afraid this will cause problems.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
