noticed that frequently my 2001 RX300 has not been shifting into last gear.. on highway RPM gauge is at 3200 when at 60 mph. should be at 2000 at 60mph. is this a sign of dumping my life savings into a new or rebuilt transmission ??

bought a used 2001 Lexus RX300 from a local reputable dealer in South Florida. drove it off the lot and within 20 min the check engine & VSC lights came on. to make a long story short, i was handed a 6,000.00 estimate to repair a gelled motor. the dealer said i bought it as is and i was *BLEEP* out of luck. have been dumping oil every two weeks just to stay running. Anyone experiencing this situation please respond.
