I'm getting Magnaflows installed next week. Do I have to go back past the resonators for it to be any good?

I'm a newbie, so go slow, but it is a great forum you have here. I'm looking to boost the sound of my 96 sc 300 manual. What is the best way to get a growl out of the system? If new aftermarket stuff, where is the best resource?
