  1. Thank you all for the feedback, dont suppose you know where they were selling complete mirrors.

Sorry but I do not remember who was selling the complete mirrors with the in-built indicators or even if they were for an LS400. They might have been for an LS430 or GS. There is an old, lengthy thread on clublexus.com about signal mirrors -- the thread may have links to sellors. I have also seen at least one post on clublexus.com about adapting Mercedes mirrors for use on Lexus cars. All these options were very expensive.

Doesn't your U.K. spec LS400 have side mounted indicators or is it an "import". It is very easy to add side turn signals to cars that do not already have them. I bought OEM side turn signals and the required repair harness from a U.K. dealer shortly after I bought my first LS in 1990. I had them professional installed by a body shop - total cost was probably less than $150.

Yes it does I have just changed the side repeaters to clear from orange to match the front clear indicators, makes a big improvement in looks.

It was just that if I could have got some decent signal mirrors at a decent price I would have liked them but its not the end of the world.

I would rather go without than have something that does not look right.

  2. There have been a few discussions about this on clublexus.com but I don't remember any here lately. This ebay store has signal mirror caps for all years of LS400's - here is the item for your 94: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-91-92-93...587410959QQrdZ1

I think the caps install with double sided tape - they just stick on.

The main issue I have read about mirror caps is that it is obvious they are caps after they are installed. But they are only $99 U.S. I remember seeing complete signal mirrors for the LS - not just caps - but they were far more expensive.

Thank you all for the feedback, dont suppose you know where they were selling complete mirrors.

  3. Not that good with suspension, the part I am looking to replace is item no10 on the diagram in rear suspension at Park Place at $83.49 is that the same as you are talking about Arkansawyer.

Yes if you order it from Lexus it comes complete....arm and bushing.

Thanks for your help with this.

As a matter of interest Sewells have the bush for sale under service items not sure if it is oem or the poly bush as I thought Lexus did not supply the bush on its own.

I am going to get the local garage to fit it for me and its seems to show the part complete with bush or do I just buy the bush.

  5. Just had my 1994 ls 400 in for its yearly MOT in the UK and am pleased to say it passed.

The vehicle inspector noted that the rear lower suspension arm bush/pin had some slight play.

I would like to replace this in the near future to keep the car up together.

My question is this, is it a big job to complete, also does the arm come complete with bush or is it a seperate

    item.

    Thanks.

  6. Try this place sales@onautos.com.au. I bought some 2 weeks ago in clear. They are listed as Landcruiser 90-94 but were identical to a 90 LS400 and fitted on the spot. Part no.tsw4010na and listed at $55 aus.

Thanks for that,so no mods required then thats good.

Can you purchase online as i could not find them onsite.

  7. I have a persistent problem with rotors warping. I have tried turning them and buying new ones. I go a couple of thousand miles and then very steadily they get worse and worse. Been through this about 4 times

over the past 2 years. Calipers seem fine, no excessive drag.

I replaced rear carrier arm bushings, front strut rod bushings, new rack, tie rod ends, struts, etc. I needed to do all of this anyway but I mention it because I know other components (carrier arm bushings) can cause a vibration in the front end and the shifter.

Is there anything else I should look at ? The funny thing is the last time this happened, I checked the runout with a dial indicator and they seemed ok. I put new ones on anyway and the vibration was fixed ? I always use a torque wrench on the wheels. Fluid has been flushed a couple of times.

Anything else that might be making it appear as though the rotors are bad ? I'm sure all rotors warp a little bit and maybe there's something else that shows up unless the rotors are dead on (new).

    thanks...

    Bob

What rotors and pads are you using.

  9. There has been some debate on the UK Ls forums about transmission oil.

I only use Toyota T-1v Atf as I heard that using other makes can cause problems

and its not worth the hassle of future problems by trying to save a few pounds.

As a matter of interest what do you people use.

I expect we are paying double what you pay.

  10. Dont think putting the origanal rack back will help as that was the one I had remanufactured and I have now fitted another one which also locks.

I am not driving the car, but the reason for my post is to see if anyone had any ideas as to the problem.

  11. Hi, I wonder if any of you people could help me with a ongoing problem I am having with my power steering.

When I purchased the car I was aware that the rack and pump had slight leaks but reduced the asking price due to this.I first had a remanufactured rack fitted and noticed that the feel was more heavy than before but i felt it was ok.On driving the car mostly after start up the rack ( from cold) sometimes locks when turning right, after the car is driven a few miles the problem goes away.

I then fitted a remanufactured pump and air control valve but still had the same problem.I came to the conclusion that the rack was at fault and sent it back but was told the rack was ok.I have recently been given a secondhaand rack which I fitted as I was sure there was a problem with the other rack.Guess what the steering still has the same problem.

I have carried out all the checks on the forums cleaning solenoid screen, bleeding, flushing etc.

The car never had the problems of the steering locking although it had leaks until I changed the rack.

Do you think the problem is related with changing the rack or is it coincidence.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

  12. Thanks guys for all the info. I never did figure out what was wrong, but this morning when i got in the car powersteering was back to normal. It may have been only air in the rack , i just thought air would have cleared in less than a week. Oh well its working fine now.

    Thanks Again

    Hi to you all,

First post on your site.I have recently had a new rack ,pump and air control valve fitted and had stiff steering at tickover.Checked all that you guys spoke about but still stiff steering at tickover.Drove car for a week and steering back to normal.Perhaps there was air still in the system?.
