  1. The "Brake Wear" light would come on and flash after ~10 miles into driving on my 1999 LS400 (154,500 on the meter). I had the front and rear pads replaced all together. The rear pads were quite worn but not totally out. We (me and the mechanics) purposely checked the rear sensor and didn't noticed any wear on the sensor. The light came back on flashing about 10 miles on my way home. I was going to replace the sensor line when I get a chance later since it's not a show stopper. The light continued to come on very predictably in trips over 10 miles for another week. Then, I just thought about it and tried the connector at the brake fluid. The fluid is at the "MAX" line. The connector was loose even it was clicked in. I pushed it in and out several times. Now the light has not come back for two days with 25 miles one-way commute each day. I am not sure it will apply to other people but it is so far so good for me.
  2. I asked a question about the same lights back in Oct. I reset the code and the lights came right back. Cleaned the Oil Control Valve,Drove for 100 miles and on, thought the problem went away, reported as such on this Forum, and then the lights came right back. A neighbor mechanics helped up to this position. He thought the next thing is to change the Throttle Position Sensor (two of them at $300/each). I decided to send the car to a garage. The diagnosis was, much to my surprise, the Variable Valve Timing Solenoid (15330 0F010 $117 parts). It's related to the CAM according to the shop. Just got the car back before dark today. Drove around and everything is fine so far. The orgiinal codes were 1354 and 1633 for me.
  3. Cleaned the Oil Control Valve and have been running for more than 100 miles since. It's so far so good and fingers crossed. Thanks for sharing the experience.
  4. The 99 LS400 just had the timing belt/pump replaced (at 95K). Both lights came on after a couple of short trips. Sent the car back to the neighbor mechanics to see if it was related to belt replacement. The error codes read: #1354 and #1633. The mechanics reset the codes, drove around to make both lights will come back and both did. I searched the Forum and found a similar post. The difference is my car drives as usual while the other car (also a 99 LS400) couldn't go beyond idle RPM unless the accelaration pedal was pressed hard. It looks the trottle position sensor is in the spot light. Is this a DIY type of project or is this a job for the established garage? Will replacing the sensor take care of the problem or there is something else to it? Please advise if you can. Thanks a lot.
