  1. I own a 1991 Lexus LS400 and I recently purchased an new A/C Compressor for $600. Once it was installed and the old A/C Compressor was removed I was informed that it was good and not the problem. So I'm selling the used A/C Compressor for $250. I'm in the Georgia area and this price doesn't include shipping. If interested please send me an email with your zip code so I can quote you a shipping price. I also have a verified Paypal account.
  2. Hello! So I own a 1991 Lexus LS400 V8 and I just had the starter replaced. I drove it home and noticed some strange things happenning. 1. The oil light, battery light, brake light, temperature light, and trac light were all on. 2. The dash lights were on but when I press the brake they go completely off except for the P,R,D, etc... 3. The idle on the car is extremely low.....about 150 to 200 rpms. 4. Battery went dead after attempting to recrank. Now I had the battery tested and it was good. Once I installed it all the lights in problem #1 went off except for the trac. Now I just have #2 and #3 to worry about. Now sure were to start because there is no CEL and no codes. Any suggestions?
  3. We probably will never know for sure. This is the typical 'dead end' to some threads. Posters come and go. Closure sure would be nice but not much we can do except make sure that our threads show resolution. Hello, Well I finally got it towed to the dealership and spent over $100 for a diagnostic. After a week the dealership tells me that it was the ECU and quoted $1800 for repairs. Well I got the car towed back home and found a cheaper one on EBay, got my husband to install, and she fired right up. But the timing change was always correct.
  4. Yes the car is worth it because some of the parts I replaced weren't the problem (MAF, TPS). It is just a matter of troubleshooting. My car is a 1991 and it has all of the original parts. They are in need of replacement after 19 YEARS!!!!!. I know this has got to be something minor I'm just not sure what.
  5. Recently car ran hot so had the water pump changed and timing belt replaced. After this the car wouldn't start and wasn't getting any fire. Triple checked the timing no car is getting spark, turns overs, but just will not fire. Check for code and got 14 Ignition signal no. 1, 15 Ignition signal no. 2. Yesterday car still wasn't getting any spark so I replaced the distributor, rotors, igniters and crank sensor. Removed the previous code and tried to start. I then got continous spark but still will not fire. Rechecked for codes and CEL just flashes with no codes stored. At a complete loss.
  6. I have a 1991 Lexus Ls400 and recently had the fuel pump replaced. Low water temperature light kept coming on for about two weeks, always filled it with water but couldn't find the leak. One day car just runs completely hot so I pull over at a gas station and have it towed to a mechanic shop. He tells me my water pump is gone bad, needs to be replaced and also he would replace the timing belt since that would have to come off as well. This was one week ago and now that the work is finished the car will not start. It turns over but will not fire. The mechanic explains to me that he has done the timing twice and assures me it is correct but the spark plugs aren't getting any fire on both sides. He is puzzled and not sure what the problem can be. Any suggestions?

  8. It was the "FUEL PUMP" after all. My fuel pump was 19 years old and once I replaced it the car runs fine but I noticed that it is idle slightly high. I'm hoping to adjust the TPS and that will fix the problem.
  9. Check the fuel pressure at the rail The theory is that you got a bad(dirty) tank of gas and perhaps the filter plugged(have you replaced the fuel filter?). Try a little experiment. With the engine running and in park, spray some starter fluid into the air intake just as you are putting the car in gear. If the engine stays crunk, you may have a fuel starvation issue. If not, you may have an ignition issue. I think it is fuel starvation. How can I check the fuel pressure? What is the reading suppose to be if I get someone else to check it? So far I have had bad experiences with mechanics.
  10. I have replaced the MAF according to a diagnostic the old one was only providing 5V when it should be 12V. The mechanic was going to charge me $300 for the MAF and $50 for the labor. Of course I went to ebay and got the part for $59.99 and my husband put it on. The car starts and idles and 1000 rpm but after about five minutes just shuts off. Plus I still can't accelerate on the gas. The car goes in gear but shuts off as soon as I hit the gas. I'm not sure what else to do. Any suggestions?
  11. Ok, the TPS had nothing to do with it. I replaced it and the car is still doing the same thing but I finally read the diagnostic codes and I am getting: 24 Intake air temp. sensor signal 31 Air flow meter signal What does this mean? Where are these sensors located? What can I do to the fix problems?
  12. Have you checked for diagnostic codes? http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html Unfortunately, one of our friends has an OBDII instead of the OBDI so he wasn't able to read it, but if I could I would drive it to Autozone since they do diagnostics for free but the car continues to shut off.
  13. Very funny. Anyway, the throttle body has been cleaned and the engine sounds great but still struggling to stay idle :o , do I need a new TPS because the check engine light, trac light, and trac off light are coming on and staying on now.
  14. I have a 1991 Lexus LS400 V8 and it has been running like a champ. Two days ago I went to get some gas 93 as usually and out of nowhere I could not get the car to accelerate. It had to be pushed up my driveway. My husband changed the spark plugs and wires thinking this would help but it didn't. Checked the fuel pump and changed the fuel pump relay 12V. The car cranks but still will not budge when we hit the gas and it seems as if it is struggling to stay crunk. Removed the MAF, to check out the throttle...the first valve is open and the second one is closed but when I hit the gas pedal the first valve doesn't respond. We are at a lost on what to do next. Not sure which route we should take...please HELP!!!!
  15. I have a 1991 Lexus LS400 that I bought back in February!
