  1. awaken,

Changing out the radiator out really wasn't that bad. You might want to find a diagram of the removal and installation. I would recommend new hoses and clamps as they are most likely hard and brittle from all the heat off the engine. Also, be prepared to have a catch can for the hydraulic fluid. I did find small amount of grass and bugs stuck to the condenser in front and used a good stiff brush to clear it off. Taking my time, being interrupted by family and friends, I'd say it was about three hours. Mind you this was my first time working on this type of car!

    Good Luck!

Nice work man, thank you very much for sharing! Cheers!

  2. Isn't that the 'Superman Edition' of the 2nd gen ES in that pic? I've never actually seen one before. Very rare! IIRC, it comes with special badging and a plastic super-hero lunchbox instead of the luggage you would get with the Coach Edition. :P

Why offer luggage when the Superman edition ES300 comes with a HUGE case of !Removed! Kryptonite?

  3. Thanks Folks!

These are good suggestions! BTW I just replaced the radiator today. Tedious, but okay. I was surprised to find that it was made of plastic and guess where the leak was!

How was that process aside from tedious? Thinking about replacing mine. Any tips on how you did it you could share?

  4. Ebay is a solid option. You may also want to try a Want To Buy post in the classifieds on here as well.

A 3rd option I've used before, is scanning all the US craigslist to find people parting out ES300's. Search with these keywords without quotes "parting out es300 site:craigslist.org" on Google. Some are individuals, some are scrapyards. I know for a fact right now there is a scrapyard up near Scranton, PA that has a 94 ES with numerous parts. You could give them a call, they will ship.

  5. Well thanks for your imput but i get bored here at work and i develop a blog-itis so i'ma do what i do and no one response  then i will not lose any sleep i just do this for fun

I can sum it up in one sentence for everyone else:

"Look at me ladies  :cries: , I am a total stud :chairshot: that lacks the basic ability to determine what's tasteful, so I will put comic book stickers :geek: all over my car in order make my car look as obnoxious as my personality! "

GBHRPS brought up some very helpful pointers, he was trying to be as polite as possible about it. But since you have chosen to be the douchetroll, expect to have as many friends on here as you have in real life: ZERO.

  6. Having just done this job myself last week, there is no need to bleed it at all. I did read somewhere on the boards that it's really not neccessary, wish I could site the post but I'm sure a simple search will bring up the debate on it.

While you're under there, probably a good idea to check your brake hoses for cracks as well. Found some on both of mine (bottom of hose at the very top) and had those replaced those as well. The mechanic did bleed my brakes at that time...

Oh! Just make sure you have a bolt that you can thread into those two holes located on the center cap to pop off the rotor!! This was the one thing not mentioned in a few DIY's I found.

Have fun changing it all out!

  7. ??? FAN CLUTCH for a transverse engine??? I suggest you download the manual and look at the cooling section. Only cars with conventional engine mounting can have a fan clutch, if I remember correctly, you have electric fans.

Sorry... forgive me, I'm not a mechanic by any means & I thought it wasn't right once I started looking around. Guess it's just the SC's & LS's that have them. It's actually a hydraulic fan, not electric.

you got that problem. well as far as the fan clutch not really sure being i have a 94 es 300 the fan is control the power steering pump and circulates thru the fan itself ... so i suggest checking our power steering fluid see is itfull cus i do know even though you fan is turning those rev's it may nto be turning fast enuff to cool your engine I had to replace my power steering hose that was leaking and i notice the temp guage then was highier then it is now due to the leak.... but when i replace it the temp went down juss a little and a mech. told me the my fan was not turning fast enuff for my engine to cool...so.. i hope that help a bit

Power Steering fluid is fine. My mechanic just recently replaced the High Pressure PS in my car & actually come to think of it...it's been VERY noticable after that. If it's not the Hydraulic Fan, I'm thinking there may be two other options. The solenoid on the PS pump OR the ECM that controls the cooling system may be faulty.

I'm just fustrated since I took it back to my mechanic, and another... and both gave me the run around that that's how it's supposed to sound & I know that's not true.

  8. Hi all,

Reading through the forums, I've hopefully diagnosed a problem on my car that quite a few people before me seemed to be having. With the A/C on, my radiator fan revs ridiculously loud when I accelerate. Off it's fine...

If I'm guessing right, it's due to a bad fan clutch. I tested my fan by spinning it while the engines of and there's no resistance at all, spins around at least 9 times with a simple push.

Searching around for a 1995 ES300 "fan clutch" at different auto websites & ebay yields no results. Which got me questioning if the ES300 even has a fan clutch (most of the issues I saw regarding this were with SC's & LS's) or I need a more descriptive part name? So, I called the local dealer and they do say they have it.

    *** Edit***

Just found http://www.turboninjas.com/camry/gen3_part_list.pdf which lists no reference to fan clutch, but it does contain the "Motor, Hydraulic" (part #: 16960-62010). Would this be the part I'm looking for??

    ********

Just looking for anyone who may have had a similar issue, any installation tips or a part number for this piece. Also wanted to make sure I'm not missing any steps in diagnosing before I go and purchase this part.

If no steps are being missed...anyone that has a used fan clutch for a 95 ES, PLEASE! HIT ME UP!
