  1. Man! I think I didn't took out the drain bolt and tried to drain the oil from filter housing. That was the problem. How stupid!!! Here is another question. Since I already put a new filter and 5 gallon new oil in, should I do another oil change or it is ok for me to drive another 3-4k miles. I change oil every 5k miles. My ES is on 24K mile right now. Thank you so much! Nice try! I'm just not buying! There's no way anyone would even think of doing what you just described! :chairshot: I mean, this is taking "thinking ouside the box" to a whole new level ... nice writing Great entertainment! ;) Yeah, I was just trying to be patient. You never know haha.
  2. I think I would redo the whole oil change again and let all the oil drain out thru the drain bolt and then change the filter. Overall it is really cheap insurance. If you had been starting the engine with the oil filter off, that "might" have done some damage to the car because you certainly don't want the engine running with little or no oil. The oil keeps the engine lubricated and minimizes friction that can lead to premature wear and tear inside the engine. But right now just redo the oil change and take it for a nice leisurely drive and maybe get her a bath and she should be fine. BTW when you get the drain bolt off, let it drain for a good 10 minutes or so. You should find yourself putting in approximately 6-6.4 quarts of oil. Full capacity is 6.4, but I think it would take half an hour to drain all 6.4 out. also you mean quarts, not gallons.
  3. Hi, you don't drain the entire oil thru the filter element housing (is that what you're doing?). Did you remove the drain bolt first? Most of the oil drains thru the drain bolt. It is 14mm and it is just behind the filter at the end of a black metal looking box. Here is the pic :http://members.cox.net/n0v8or/avalon_oil_change.pdf The avalon oil change is just like the lexus es350. I have never started the car with the filter off to drain the oil. Not good for the engine. Read that PDF and tell me what you're doing different.
  4. Im in US so that is about 223XX miles. WAY to early to do anything to the battery unless you do some really unconventional things. Also unless you drive super aggressive, notice any unusual brake sounds or brake feels weird, I would also leave them alone. Just say thanks but no thanks. I have NEVER heard of anyone switching brake pads on each wheel. Replacing them if they are low is one thing, but rotating brake pads on each wheel? LOL. If they are wearing unevenly, you have problems with your rotor or alignment, both of which I highly doubt. I've replaced my own brake pads (in acura MDX) and know how they work in the wheels and the battery (MDX and Accord) as well and I can tell you those two items sound like unnecessary expenses at 22XXX miles.
  5. HI I just changed my own oil on the es350 last week and if it is oil leaking from your car I can make a couple of guesses that you dealer might have messed up on. 1) could be the drain bolt gasket like you said but if he did reuse the old gasket that is despicable and if he did not, he might have gorilla tightened it. 2) If not 1) then the oil filter has 2 rubber gaskets inside of it. It is possible they forgot one or dislodged one when putting them back and is causing this leak. 3) There is a cap which they might not have tightened. You can actually tighten this yourself if you have a 3/8in ratchet without even lifting the car. Maybe they forgot to put this on!?!? 4) of course the last thing is did they tighten the filter housing itself. You can actually tighten this by hand but the space is a bit tight with lifting the front. BTW unlike regular filters, there really isn't a whole lot to tighten. You screw the cap in until it bottoms out and the whole filter can even be tightened by hand as mentioned above. 15 minutes is too suspiciously fast to do the whole oil change because I even let the oil drain for a good 5-10 minutes. You should look under your car and see if you see oil from the drain bolt or the filter housing. You don't even have to lift the car. Just get a flash light and get down and look. Don't know what it looks like? Follow this link: http://members.cox.net/n0v8or/avalon_oil_change.pdf This pdf is for an avalon but they have the same oil filter. It is located kinda near the passenger side wheel. Also, I remember when I got my 5000 complimentary oil change, I only got 5.2 oils put in. that's what it said on my invoice. I wasn't educated at the time but now I suspect they maybe didn't even change my oil filter! I had a toyota dealership do my next two oil changes and I just started doing my own last week. Regardless, I would be professionally angry about it and maybe mention that when you get the survey afterwards, that how they respond to this incident might determine how you rate the service you were provided.
