  1. The front fogs are probably not the big problem here... you guys are ignoring the rear fog on all euro cars.

Those are really bright, it can light up A LOT of the road in dark weather. And an eyesore when its nice out and you see a VW running around with the equivalent of a high beam in red facing you.

  2. I doubt get this will get read, but I ordered these Japanese models they are HID look-a-likes. They run about 12 dollars and get the 3000K. They are the best bulbs for the price. You can also get from yellow to Bright white with the colors in between for headlights as well and they fit in place of the stock no need for conversion kits. Look them up on ebay, HiPro Power.

    JUNK.

Just like all of the eBay ones. Unless they're Putco, they blow out prematurely. There was one set i bought way back for <10$ and it lasted 1.5 years, until i removed them given their output was non-existant and *BLEEP* poor. One of those 'for show things'. And HID's kill these housings [00-01], the pre-00's i wouldn't worry due to frosted lens, but the 00+ has a clear one and the chrome bubbled due to my HID's [35w slim ballast]. Now i replaced my OEM Koito 'white' bulbs and actually get light output as it was intended to be.

  3. I don't trust eBay for parts like that. Especially when you can get brand name parts from www.Rockauto.com for better than eBay pricing without the questionable 'white box' quality and no warranty...

I'm debating this too, considering the new control arm [for a 2001] on rockauto works out to 120$ more for the two in the front than just the bushings & balljoints. But i don't need to change mine yet.

  4. I paid about 500 for both hid kits on ebay but I had to wait to get them as both are rarely on ebay at the same time. The ballasts were included but I had to buy the bulbs on ebay for 40 bucks each. Price have really come down on the bulbs.

WOW!500$ for 2 hid kits.Right now the price is only 40dollar/hid kits,I didnt't know hid kits was that expensive.

OEM kits, ALWAYS are worth money, then again, those are the ones that last more than 5yrs without any issues unlike aftermarkets.

Second, this thread is now 7 YEARS OLD, so yes, they were around 250$/kit in 2005. :glare:

  5. You got it, remove the connector, then bumper as a member on CL did to gain access.

Coming into this project I wasn't too sure on how to install it, but I didn't think it was going to be too hard. I thought all I had to do was:

Remove the plastic cover in the engine

    Remove the headlights

    Put in the new headlights

Put the plastic cover back on

WRONG!.... I took the plastic cover off, unbolted the headlights, then found out that I had to remove the bumper.

    Pictures here.

NO NO NO dont take it apart. Just turn the bulb counter-clockwise to align the notches and pull straight out. Remember, dont touch the bulb with your hand or the oils will cause them to burst later on.

Is he replacing the bulb? NO. Read again.

  6. Use quick struts. They include the spring, the mounts, which also go bad. Not to mention it will be easier to do, much less time and work (no spring compressor needed!)

They only list rear struts for the V6 Camry and ES300, and they are very expensive. So instead, I plan on using the quick struts for the four-cylinder Camry (cheaper, more brands available too). I don't really think this will be a problem because I know that the 5S-FE is only about 10 lb lighter than the 1MZ-FE. eBay has all four for under $400, and Rock Auto has Raybestos brand quick struts for about $500 (for all four).

Unfortunately KYB quick struts are only available for the XV20 third-gen ES300/fourth-gen Camry.

    Yup! I got those as well, quickstruts ran me 550$ shipped all four for my 2001, lifetime warranty and a 120$ rebate too since i bought them... So even better. 130K and they were shot;

I replaced all four with Monroe Sensa TraC Strut, first few months the ride was stiff after that great ride. I wish I had known about the Quick Strut, that would save me some work time, two years ago. Rockauto.com quick strut cost $136.00 ea. After installing those strut alignment is required.

I love RockAuto for this reason...
