  1. I have an 8 weeks old Lexus UL and mine is very quiet and i drove couple others before i bought (different options) and they all were same, so may be something is wrong with your particular car.

I know what you are talking about. The car I test drove had it and mine has it. I went for a ride with a service tech and he said they all have that slight wind noise. He said it had something to do with the mirrors (which changed from 07 to 08) and the aerodynamics of the car. Not sure I'm buying that. It is not that bad and no one else thinks my car is loud so I think I'm being too critical.

  2. Okay, let me ask you this: Do you take any short trips (under 10 miles)? Often, I notice water spewing from the mufflers of cars that were just driven from their owner's home. Moisture condenses inside the muffler over night (especially if left outside) and the best way to get rid of this moisture is to drive a long enough distance.

Short trips are not relavant to the issue. Short trips cause internal corrosion, the discussion is external corrosion.

external corrosion is often a "too late" sign of heavy internal corrosion. I worked in the marine industry for almost 17 years; believe me, I've seen plenty of corrosion!

The Y pipe on my 99 GS400 just rusted through sending an O2 bad signal and tripped the check engine light. Welded up the hole and the code went away.

The pipe is made of a crap grade of stainless steel. Seem my 99 Chrysler exhaust is still shiny.

  3. I apologize if this is one of those questions everyone is sick of answering.  I searched for a while last night and could not find the answer.

Looking for a place to send my CD Changer to get repaired.  I remember seeing someone on this forum who could do it, or sells repaired units, but cannot remember who it was.  Any help is appreciated.  Please email me if you have any info.  Thanks!

    1998 GS400

    w/ NAV

Symptoms:  CD Cartidge stuck in changer.  Eject button lights up and blinks, but won't let go of the cartridge.  NAV/CD says "No Disc" (or something like that).

    Brgds,

    David

I had the exact same problem, sent mine to A&N Technologies, S. Plainfield NJ 908-222-8768, they fixed it for $306

  4. Falken Ziex ZE-512 in a V speed rating no less! Awesome high performance all season.

LexusFreak - do you have any affiliiation with this brand of tire? You recommend them quite often.

I will be replacing my Goodyears soon. Still have tread but they are loud as :censored: and they grab every pavement mismatch and want to turn the car.

I don't mind saving money, just double checking if these should be my next tire.

    Thanks for the information.

  5. Slots look nice if your rims show them off. I would suggest a new set of rotors (~$50 each) from the auto parts store and some ceramic pads (~$50 for both wheels). I did this and love the stopping power.

The disks have two holes in the middle hat that if you screw a bolt into them, they disc pop off. Apply a little anti seize lube on the "ears" of the pads where they ride the claiper assy. The whole job should not take more than 1-1/2 hours.

  6. I am also looking for tires for my 99 GS400. I found these at Costco:

    Bridgestone® Potenza RE750 225/55ZR16

Ultra-high performance $130.99 mounted, balanced, lifetime rotation and balance.

Read all the Tire Rack reviews and all great. ($122 at Tire Rack before shipping.)

TireRack.com has a lot of info when looking for tires.

  7. I remember calling the Lexus 800 number and talking to the guy. He said $250 for a new hard disk with the updated data on it. It comes out in Sept or Oct of every year. I may do it this fall and get the 2004 data.

Problem is you can't order it from the 800 number, you need to get it from the local Lexus parts dealer or online and they all set thier own prices. With a swing of $850 to $250, we need to start comparing dealers. Also need to find when the 2004/2005 disk is coming out.
