  1. Or maybe he is a !Removed! moron. You the f*ck do you think you are talking *BLEEP* like that. You asked a question, we answered. If you don't want answers, don't ask the question.

And smart *ss it IS in the owner's manual if you would open your f*ckin eyes.

Next time I look at it I will even give you the page number.

so you WHATEVER. NEXT TIME DON'T ASK A QUESTION IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO EXCEPT THE ANSWER.

All responses are welcomed favorable or not. But your response to this topic is just completely disrespectful. In the future if you do not post in that manner actions will be taken to Ban you form this site. Again I point out all responses are welcome favorable or not, but not in the manner you posted.

  2. I purchased the Nokia new Nokia 6310i phone ($100) and the companion Lexus system ($3,900 installed) and it is terrible. The system works great when the car is not in motion. However, once the car goes more than 3 mph the system's funtions freeze....Said differently, you can only recieve a call when in motion. You cannot: *make a call (unless it is one of 10 pre-programed numbers), *manipulate vmails (forward, delete, respond), or *conference another party into an existent call.

I am told that this is because the phone system is a slave to the navigation system the Lexus' lawyers don't want you 'playing' with the screen buttons while in motion! This system is a $4,000 waiste of $ as it is useless....as I now have reverted to the free earbud which came with the Nokia.

I own a Mercedes and a BMW and neither of these car's integrated phones operate like this...and I can't believe that this system is not designed for todays business executive/commuter.

The Lexus dealer said I am eligable for a free upgrade when the release it in the next 6 months but can't tell me if these issues will even be addressed by then....but time will tell if this is true.

    Has anyone else encountered this?

business executive/commuters are why the fail safes are in place. Lexus does not want anyone coming back on them. I can understand that. Besides, most people that are talking on the phone while driving do not appear to remember they are driving. Sorry, can't feel bad for you on this one.

  3. gslx4s, hey your installation looks great like mine. did you install a dvd changer like i did (Alpine 6 disc)? going to get the LX worked on again to tie in the nav screen to show dvd but be able to switch back to nav. also, this way the driver (me) can listen to music while my important passenger's (mom, dad, wife, daughter and her boyfriend) can watch movies! i'll send pics as soon as i get a chance!! see ya!!

    G

I am using the factory DVD changer.

  4. I'm looking into getting the phone installed in my '03 lx, but would like to hear some disadvantages. I like the idea of having the phone system integrated with the navigation, but don't know if I lose anything by doing this. Would love some input.

You may want to look into this more. I only know of the Nokia phone with the hands free unit for the factory stereo. This allows the user to listend and speak through the stereo, but i do not think it is anything other then the nokia. If you have other info, by all means please post it....

  5. Hello,

    First post :magic:

I did a search but didn't come up with anything. I am looking for the options that were available on the 98 GS400. It would help me to determine why there seems to be a 12K dollar price difference on what looks like the same cars in ads.

    Thanks!

    -Mike

follow the link below to the answer to your questions. You must look at the menu to your year of GS but you answer is there...

  6. With the steady rising gas prices I wanted to throw this question out there...does the ECT Power button on my '98 GS300 use more gas or is it computer controlled?

Please let me make this matter aclear on for you. The E.C.T. button does not use any more gas then if you were driving in a normal manner. What it does do is this. Under hard driving it will hold your gear until just before red-line. That is where you would lose M.P.G. not by having the power mode on but by using it....lol

  7. We have no emissions here in Florida, :whistles: but you do have a point regarding the wiring. But here is somthing to consider $2100.00 for the 1JZ front clip vs $4500.00 for a 2JZ front clip.

$2400.00 is enough cash to rewire the whole car.. :D

When you get done with the project please tell us what the total bill came to be....Good luck with your project...

  8. Come on folks...someone help me out. I rarely get to drive the Lexus (my wife has it), so I cant easily get measurements, and need to order a seat cover for the backseat for when the dog comes with us.

Can someone PLEASE take 2 seconds to measure the width of the backseat when the doors are closed, as well as meaure the distance from the bottom of the headrests to the front of the seat area (where the back of your knees hit)?

    I would really appreciate it.

You may want to go into the back seat of your car and mesure it...just an idea.....

  9. Hi

I currently have a 1996 sc 300 AUTO. I'm currently pondering upon a 1jzgte AUTO(from a 2jzge) swap. Would I need the entire front clip? or would parts from my front still fit on it. Also I heard there are different versions of the 1jzgte engine (VVT, rev limitations, trac. control) which one would be a sound choice. I'm trying to open up some turbo possiblilities for the car and MONEY is a relative issue...

    Thanks

If money is an issue then just leave your car stock. To do the swap is going to run you around 10k. Do some looking into it and you will find that, that is what you are going to spend. Save you $$..IMO

  10. I'm going to buy LX-470 or Mercedes ML-350. They cost in our country Azerbaijan respectively 67 K $ and 62 K$ . Which one do you recommend if you take into account that I want a SUV but in 99% of the cases I'll use it on normal roads.

Of course, Lexus is wider, longer and richer inside. This doesn't frighten me. But I'm afraid of an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h which is specified in Lexus as 10 sec while in ML 8.5 sec. Tell me please, are you satisfied with the speed of LX on the normal roads ?

Has it special Turbo mode for faster acceleration ?

I love my LX. I too was looking at the M class. Went fro a test ride. Did not like the blan feel of the SUV. Go for the LX You will be happy, i know i am....

  11. Given the problems I've had with replacing 2 cd changes in less than 30 days. I'm looking for input on replacing the factory unit with an aftermarket and may want to go ahead and add DVD with rear flip down monitor. Any ideas for both in-dash replacement systems and Rear entertainemnt system. Can the new Rear system for 2003 be added to a 1999.

I would probably upgrade the amps and speakers...the whole deal to get it right.

    Thanks

Whay flip down, Why not head rest. Its quick. Follow the link below and read up on Vizualogic. I have also taken a picture of my 03 Lx 470 with the Vizualogic head rest monitors. LX_470_Head_Rest.jpg

  12. C'mon guys, no suggestions?

Would it be possible to get the desired equipment from a junkyard? If so, what exactly would I need to have pulled from the junked lx470?

Here is your answer. You should look into an aftermarket NAV system. There is noway anyone in the right state of mind would wnat to go and have one form the dealership installed unless you had deep pockets. Aftermarket is the way to go for your issue. Let me know if you would like to be pointed in the direction of a manufacture.....You have several ways to go...

  13. Hi there. I'd like to tint the front two windows on my '97 LX450, but all the shops I've talked to here in Portland OR tell me that it's impossible to match the factory reflective-bronze tint that the other windows have. I believe the LX450 window tints are the same as with the LX470. Any suggestions?

Try and find a tint the comes close to the rears. That is what i did and i think i cam e real close.

  14. 1997 LX450 with 69,500 miles running 5W-30 Dino Oil. Warm engine, idling in Drive, the Oil Pressure Needle drops to the bottom line.

Cruising at 2000 RPM, Needle stays just above second line from bottom,

Does anyone else have this sympton?????

    Thanks Tom

This is a direct quote right out of my tech. manual. This should answer your question and then some...Hope it helps...

    Oil Pressure Gauge Interpretation

    Cold Start

When and engine starts, all the oil is in the sump and the oil pressure is zero. The pump cannot begin to deliver oil or generate oil pressure until it has sucked up cold oil through the filter screen and the pick up tube. Hence, cold start lubrication is greatly assisted by having a short, wide pick up tube and oil that has very good cold flow properties.

When the oil reaches the pump it is then forced through the filter and then through the engine. However, as the oil is still cold and the oil channels are very narrow, flow is slow and a large back pressure develops so that the pressure Gauge registers a dramatic pressure increase.

As the oil circulates and warms up, it flows faster and the oil pressure declines to a stable level. It is only at this point that the engine is being properly lubricated. Until stable oil pressure is obtained wear rates are high due to inadequate oil delivery to the wearing surfaces. Under cold start conditions, a "good" oil is one which gives stable oil pressure the fastest.

    Normal Operation

Under ideal circumstances, oil pressure should be stable and any large increase or decrease should be investigated for possible mechanical damage.

  15. I have a COACH 99 es 300 and I want to put a cai on it. I can't find one anywhere on the Internet. <_<

I called a specialty shop in El Paso, Texas, the guy said Yeah, bring your car in and I'll have a look at it.

After he saw it he said there isn't enough space in the engine bay for a cai. He was really nice, looked at my car although he was working on another at the time, but said he could only fit ram air in there.

I read all the posts and you are the only one who did a cai. If you'll tell me how you did it/ maybe draw it out, I can tell the guy at the shop. I think you said someone did it for you; if you can put me in touch with him, he can make a cai and ship it to me! Marcel D

I found this for you. K&N offers a drop in type filter for your application. This filter would work well for your car. You may also want to put a 1.5 inch hole at the bottom of your airbox to allow a greater flow of air to enter the box. C.A.I. are not all they are put to be. This fact has been proven time and time agian. Hope this helps...

  16. I understand that the 2004 models (due in dealerships in late September) will add a "backup camera" as safety feature to the navigation system. The camera turns the navigation screen into a monitor letting you see what's behind the vehicle when it is in reverse. It's already available on the new RX.

This is going to be an option for the customer on the GS. The LS 430 will have this as a standard item. I have also been told by Toyota/Lexus Corp. That there also may be a back up sensor system offered as an option for the GS as well.
