  1. Look here for a video of the leak on a 2GR-FE engine: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=22775 I bought the parts at my local Toyota dealer (all metal line and gaskets) for $31 and my ES goes to the dealer tomorrow morning for the install (they quoted 1 hour $109 for labor). Part numbers are: 15772-31030 oil pipe, 90430-16012 gasket(2), 90430-16016 gasket, 90430-16017 gasket. The pipe is all metal. The campaign for free replacement is Campaign 923. My vin is not on it so I am paying myself. $140 is cheaper than a new engine. Note: This also efects the RX350 video: As an update to this topic. It appears that Lexus may be a bit more accommodating in regards to the repair to this service campaign (9LH). I am just now requesting an appointment for this repair from my local dealer. After our earlier conversation in this post, I used the information that KBRX330 provided when he gave the part number for the all metal line (#15772-31030). I went into the dealership on a recent weekend and sat down and talked with them about scheduling the repairs. I asked about the repairs and told them the concerns I had with the heavier hose replace and the longevity of the repair. I also mentioned the safety of my family on trips and away from home. The dealer said he understood and then I mention the all metal line that KBRX330 had listed and I offered this information and to pay any additional cost for that replacement instead of the heavier hose. The dealer seemed surprised and agreed to check into the all metal hose. He contacted me this week and said he had gotten approval from some representative, I not sure who or from where. They will repair my vehicle (2008 ES) with the all metal line and there is no additional cost. First I want to thank Akachan LS for bringing up the issue in the January post and a special thank you to KBRX330 for the research and thoughtfulness of posting the all metal line information. I really feel this is the correct way to repair this defect and hopefully through combined efforts and sharing information with sites like this we can help each other receive the type of service we expect and deserve. I know I will continue to try to do my small part whenever possible.
  2. RX, Thanks for the suggestion. Sometimes you can become locked into thinking of only one thing. (Senior Moments) Replacing the locking lug nuts with regular lug nuts is the sensible approach and I really have no fear of stolen wheels. In fact I'll have the dealer exchange lug nuts when the car goes in for the recall. Also, thank you for the auto parts website. It appears to have everything someone would need for their vehicle. Good information and great suggestion.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I agree, I need to be able to replace the spare in an emergency or I would have to call roadside assistance. I had not given it any thought until my decision to replace the tires. I have followed both of your suggestions. The owners manual for the 2008 Lexus ES350 does not mention the factory wheel lug locks. In the truck with my full size spare there is not a slot or spot for the key to the locks. The tools and the lug nut wrench have a spot outlined in the trays surrounding the spare, but the lug nut wrench itself is shaped to remove the lug nuts, it does not have the indentation to remove the wheel locks. I was thinking I was overlooking the key to the wheel locks, but unless you know of a specific location I may have to have the dealer sell me a new set of locks with a key. I just trying to prevent the extra expense, however, it's my fault for not inquiring ealier. Thanks again for your reply.
  4. I purchased my 2008 Lexus ES350 last year as a used vehicle and I have not had a reason to use the key to the factory wheel locks. The wheels have been removed and rotated at the dealership during a routine maintenance visit. The dealer has also removed my rear wheels to perform a TSB repair to the rear brakes. I mention this only because the dealership must be using my factory wheel lock key or they have a master key for all vehicles with factory wheel locks. My question and dilemma is that I need to purchase new tires for my vehicle and I have decided to take my car to a tire shop and not the dealership. In my discussions with the tire shop they have explained to me that I need to locate my factory wheel lock key. I have not located the key after searching and I am about to purchase a new set of wheel locks with a key and have the dealership install them if this is the only solution. I would appreciate any information regarding where I may be overlooking the key or confirmation that this is my only recourse. Thank you in advance.
  5. BigBadWolf, I can appreciate your frustration. I am not sure that the Lexus dealers are the only dealers that might take advantage of customers on occasion, but it would be nice to have full confidence in the dealerships since Lexus will pay them for the warranty work and the cars are expensive. It makes you wonder if there may be some double dipping going on. Anyway, I am attaching a link that another member provided that gives all of the TSIB's for the 2007 - 2008 ES models. This was a life saver for me. Thanks again a1s1a1. http://www.lexustsb.com/categories/Lexus+ES/ES350/?page=1 I guess the best defense against what happened to you is to stay as informed as possible. I still feel your pain. I must say that when I made my complaint about the rear brakes on my 2008 ES, my dealer repaired them according to the bulletin without any problem and reported that the work was under warranty. However, I knew about the TSIB because of the link the member provided, but did not have to say a word. Keep the faith and enjoy your vehicle. I truly enjoy my ES. travelguy,
  6. Akachan LS, I read your reply. My ES is also a 2008, but in resolving the brake squealing issue that some of the 07 and 08 models have experienced I noticed that the VIN# has some bearing on vehicle and notification information. In the TSIB for the brake squeal recall it says that there is a 4 year, 50,000 mile warranty covering this issue, but it also gave a VIN# that the recall appears to end at that years model. If that makes any sense. I am only guessing to why you may not have received an alert at the owners benefit site. It may be that Lexus had developed a fix before your 2008 was assembled. Only a guess. I would suggest documenting who, when and where I spoke with someone. However, I can attempt to copy and paste the alert from my alert and email the information to you if you feel that would help you at the dealership. Just give me your email address if this seems to be a solution. Good luck,
  7. DRH333, See the attached link regarding the rear brake noise. http://www.lexustsb.com/questions/213/TSIB...MATURE+PAD+WEAR . My dealer repaired the brakes and acknowledged that there was a recall. In full disclosure however, I must give all the credit to another, a1s1a1, who posted a site that has all of the TSIB for your ES from 2007-2008. This information helped me a lot and I want to thank him again. Attached is his original link http://www.lexustsb.com/categories/Lexus+ES/ES350/?page=1 There is also a youtube video dealing with this problem and demonstrating the sound while backing up. Additionally, let me mention to you that I also joined a Lexus Drivers Owner Benefits site, see the link https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrive...enefits/home.do After joining this site and registering my ES by VIN#, all of my repair history appeared under the heading "MY Lexus" and they also provide and new recalls or information regarding you ES model year. This site has been very helpful. If you have any problems with the information let me know and I will try to provide it some other method. I understand that sometimes you need all the information you can get, even when dealing with your honorable Lexus dealer. Good luck,
  8. DRH333, There is a TSIB number BR-002-07 that addresses the problem you describe. I have a 2008 ES and had the same problem and the dealer repaired under warranty. The repair is covered un the Lexus comprehensive warranty for 48 months or 50,000 miles on 07-08 ES vehicles. There is a VIN# that has a effective change date, but other than that you should be able to have the repair under warranty with no problem. If you need additional information, please reply and I will attempt to give you the direct link. Hope this helps. travelguy
  9. Akachan LS, I am new to the site and I am just learning how to reply, etc. I hope this is correct. I belong to a Lexus Driver Owner Benefits club, I am providing the link https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrive...enefits/home.do This site allows you to register and provide your vehicle VIN#. In a short time all of my service history and other information was provided under the heading of "My Lexus", "Service". Along with this information the site provides "Service Campaign Alerts" These alerts are based on your personal vehicle information. In the last day or two, I only noticed today they have posted two service campaigns, one for the gas pedal, floor mat issue and the other for the problem you mentioned with a campaign expiration date of March 31, 2013. They mention that the replacement is with a new design, but they do not give the types of material they are using. I hope this information sheds some light on the subject and if you are not familiar with the site I mentioned you and other might find that information helpful also. I attempted to send this reply once before but I think I made a mistake when I tried to reply. If it appears twice, I apologize. Travelguy,
  10. Dear a1s1a1, I am a new club member and I want to thank you very much for the TSB information regarding 2007-present ES 350's. I did have a problem with my 2008 ES 350 and I would not have known how to approach resolving it without the bulletin information regarding vin# and length of warranty coverage. The information assisted me in speaking with my Lexus dealer from a position of strength after learning all of the facts. Again, thank you so much for the thoughtful link. travelguy,
