  1. Hey Lefty, double check that you still don't have a bad bulb. I had the same thing going on with mine. I finally figured it out. There are 2 brake like bulbs on each side, and it helps to have some one inside the car trying all the different things, blinkers, running lights, flashers. Look close because its easy to miss one. This is your problem. If all the circuits are complete on your tail light sockets the warning bulb would not light up on your instrament cluster. The 1156 bulbs are the single filament bulbs for the running lights. The 1157 have 2 filaments and they are for the brake light and blinkers. You could very well have a bad 1157 that only has 1 filament working. Like Steve said double check that you have the correct bulbs in the correct sockets. I don't think you can switch them though the way the sockets are made. Just look at the bottom of the bulbs and you will see the 1156's just have the lead mound in the center. The 1157's have 2 lead mounds. Check it out
  2. Dan, I assume your fluid level is ok, or where it should be. My pump would make the noise when it was low on fluid, but quit when its up around the cold/hot level. These systems can be a pain, but I would not throw in the towel just yet on your pump. I had to replace my pump last year because it was leaking and got worse, I had to keep putting in fluid and it just got to the point of being rediculous. Anyway, it's been REAL cold ALL OVER since the week before Christmas. Where is Al Gore when you need him? Bring on your Global Warming... Anyway, This weather is VERY HARD on vehicles, all the fluids and everything else. So if you can hold off on getting a new pump and wait until the weather gets back to normal. I would check out all the other things with the ps system. I have no idea why you need to replace the reservoir? My re-built pump did not come with one, and I used my old one. I had to take my reservoir apart because the screen in it was shot. I cleaned all the old screen out of it and put it back together and have not had a problem with it. Good Luck
  3. Get a piece of cardboard thats big enough to cover the engine area and radiator. Put it under your car then start it up and let it run for a while. Check for drips of coolant and Leave it there overnight. That will show any leaks and give you an idea where it is. You may have a pin hole leak in the radiator, or a hose. Thats my guess. I have to believe your loosing some coolant.
  4. Bulls, There are several power steering topics on here. You can search and find some. I would first suggest you clean the solenoid screen/filter if you have not yet done so. Its located underneath the drivers side on the steering rack. Once you unhook the solenoid wire connector. Use a pair of channel locks to remove it. Do not clamp on the solenoid itself, but loosen the thin nut at the top of it. Some seem to have a hard time to get this loose so use some spray before hand to let it soak, but just remove it. It turns counter clockwise to loosen. Once you get it loose be sure to have a bucket, or pan to catch the fluid once you start turning it. Once you remove it, INSPECT it and look at the filter. When you are ready to remove the filter from the solenoid....CAREFULLY slide the filter off the solenoid. Use a hd razor blade edge, or a similar tool to EVENLY slide it off. Once again be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when you do this. I don't think you can buy a replacement filter so you will have to re-use your current one, no matter what happens to it. Anyway it's really easy to tear the openings in the screen so do not use anything other than a spray clearner, such as brake parts cleaner, or carb cleaner. This should help you out if you have never done this to your car. That's the first place I would check. At the same time you can check your solenoid out to make sure it works as well. You should get between 6-11 ohms and put 12v to it to see if it is working. You can do this once you remove it, and hook the solenoid back up to the connector and have some one turn the key to the ignition. DO NOT START THE CAR just get power to the solenoid. If it does not click, or shoot out fluid it's bad. I hope this helps you and please let us know what you find out.
