I'd bet it is an O2 sensor -
Be sure to rotate. Tire rotation is the single greatest factor in ensuring a long tire life on any AWD vehicle.

why would you not recommend cutting rotors?

just because your vehicle is idling it does not necessarily mean your ice is not running. did you forget that the ice will turn on to re-charge the electric motor, even at idle?
