  1. I need help or advice on how to enter a specific area to avoid. Lexus HS250H Background: I have been driving between south of NYC and north of NYC for 30 years and I make it a point to avoid the GWB because I have never passed over it when there wasn't a huge amount of congestion and life threatening madness. Going around works nicely and has kept the gray hair to a minimum. Despite knowing my route extremely well, I'll often set the GPS anyway, just to keep track of the time and mileage. However, whether going North or South, I always wait until I pass NYC because no what you tell any GPS, they always want you to take the GWB and every exit along the way is another opportunity for the GPS to speak up and tell me to exit and go a different way than I'm going to go. So, over the years I have tried to set my GPS to avoid the area and I've never been able to make it work. Then , this week, I got it in my head to try again and the GPS on my HS250H seems to be just as difficult. I can only seem to get it to avoid Southbound Rt 95 using the menus and if I ask it to avoid an area, and cover the whole bridge and the approaches with the masking tool, the confirmation window only covers the approach to Southbound Rt 95. I need both north and south and both the upper and lower decks to be forbidden. Now, the bridge is being closed for repairs and I assume more people than just me are going to have to know how to get around it. If it can't be done, it's okay. I am just stubborn. Has anyone else succeeded in blocking this area? Would anyone who has had success avoiding any area before be willing to try and block the GWB and if successful, let me know what to enter to get it to work? Again, not a crisis either way. I'm just looking for advice from the more experienced. Thank you.
  2. Good morning: Does anyone know of a way to set the navigation system to avoid a specific area? Here is why. I drive between the mid-Atlantic area to all over New England and usually have to drive by New York City. No matter what I do, the NAV system in my HS250H always wants me to cross the GW bridge at the top of Manhattan. In all my years, I have never done this without getting stuck in traffic and I always drive around the city. It may have more miles but at least I am moving and I am quite sure that despite the extra distance, it is almost always a quicker route. I have done this a thousand times and could probably do it my sleep but it would be nice to be able to set the navigation system before I leave home rather than pull over somewhere just to set the destination. Is there anyway to tell it to avoid a specific road, bridge, or area in its calculations? Thanks.
  3. Hi: I know this isn't the ideal answer, but.... The problems seem to stem from using iPhones, which for a variety of reasons, are notoriously finicky. I have had an old iPod attached to my HS250H since November and it has worked flawlessly with an excess of 3000 songs and multiple playlists. I leave it and it's retractable cable in the car. Find a beat-up old iPod and sync it and leave it in the car. As an aside, I was disappointed with the in-cabin storage in my HS250H and had pockets of matching leather made that are attached to the front of each of the front seat cushions. My iPod lives in the one in front of the passenger seat. The black cable is nearly invisible against the dark gray interior so if I forget to unplug it, it is less likely to draw attention to itself in case somebody looks inside for something to steal.
  4. Good Evening. I'm a happy owner of a shiny new 2010 HS250H and in trying to set voice tags, I've come across a peculiar problem. When I go to set a new one, I'm brought to the contact list. I choose a person and their information comes up. However, there doesn't appear to be a way to choose which number is associated with that voice tag. I have three numbers for my wife (home, work, mobile). If I record "Mary", how do I make sure it chooses her mobile number over the other two? I worry that the answer should be obvious, but if anyone can control their laughing, I would appreciate mightily any advice or instruction. Thanks.
