  1. My '07IS is at the dealer now for this. They have had it 10 days so far; they say it will be ready Monday and should perform good as new once done. They need to pull out the engine to replace the piston rings and clean the carbon deposits.

Thanks tex2670. Did anyone mention what causes the problem? Mileage related? How many miles on your '07?

    Just curious,

  2. CSP (Customer Support Program) is for 2006 GS300 and 2006 to certain 2010 IS250/IS250C. It is for Engine Misfire (Intermittently Runs Rough). The support program is for 9 years with no mileage restrictions from the vehicle's in-service date.

During that time, Lexus will fix it for free. Looks like it involves replacing the piston rings or pistons. They need the car for about 4 days or more!

Anyone heard of this or had any problems like this?

    Thanks

  3. Well...the cars cost the MSRP.

Dealers don't really advertise pricing below MSRP...at least not around here. All the ads you see are for lease payments.

They don't around here either. The only time I see a price advertised is on a used car.

Silly me. I guess I'm missing the entire purpose of this thread. According to the OP: "People are always wondering if their getting a fair price on their new car purchase. Here are a few luxury new car prices from the Central Iowa area for a comparison."

For some reason, I was expecting prices that people are paying, not lease info.

    No big deal :)

  4. Go to PepBoys or any auto store and you can buy a license plate frame with a metal back plate. Its sold in one package together. about $20.00 You can purchase new screws with bolts to secure your plate at the bottom. If you do this you woun't ever have a bent plate. I have it on my 450H. It works perfect and looks great.

Good idea! You might also keep your eyes open for a new car wash :)

  5. I am a new owner of the IS250c and so far I love it. I have a few questions so please be patient. How do you get the radio to stay on and not change back to map constantly? Also, what would happen if the key would fail? How would one get into the car and would it start if you did get in? I am reading the manual but find that it does not include evrything. Thanks all.

Can't help with the map question (don't have nav), but the question regarding key failure is covered quite well in the owners manual. Enjoy the car.

  6. That's the same color combination I have on my 2010 IS250. You'll love it! I get many compliments on this color combination. By the way, the exterior color is like getting two colors in one - at night ,it looks like a dark gray metallic, and in the sunlight, a dark charcoal metallic! Nice.

By the way, the carpet on the IS is indeed darker (not the khaki color) - looks nice.

  7. And what about the ES350 that has the Denso unit and not the CTS unit?

I think they should do the "smart brake/brake override" on every Toyota and Lexus vehicle that has an electronic throttle control.

It's just good design practice - GM, Chrysler, Mercedes and VW (and others?) have this feature.

Perhaps it would go a long way toward cleaning up Toyotas tarnished reputation. I don't know.

  8. What makes me even more nervous is the fact that the pedal issue may not even be the cause of these runaway accelerations (many folks, including me, don't think it is the cause).

It appears that the best thing Toyota could do is install the "smart brake" fix on every car they've sold with electronic throttle control. This shuts the engine to idle when the brakes are applied hard. This may be very, VERY expensive - but many owners are getting hysterical about this - and this may be the only way to appease them.

    Just my opinion.

  9. Every case is different . I'm 69 and have an IS250 for it's nimbleness and RWD handling. But my wife has a second generation Cadillac CTS which has many of the comfort/luxury traits of the ES350. And we can trade off whenever we want.

So different strokes for different folks. They're all good cars (especially compared to many of the cars when I was young  ), so just drive and enjoy.
