  1. So I own a 95 sc400... the user's manual says to use 93 octane which they don't have anymore, so I've been using 91. It's getting expensive though, and I was wondering if I could get away with using 87 or 89 without doing any damage to anything. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  2. If your transmission is running fine, then don't even worry about replacing it. There is a huge difference between Lexus and VW. Just do the proper maintenance!
  3. my car had the same problem... i know what you mean when you say it's no longer fun to drive! i replaced the throttle switch and that fixed the problem. it's not too costly either... ran me about $130
  4. I have the same problem with the mirrors on my 95 SC400. The side mirror control doesn't work, nor does the trunk release. It's an electrical problem that's realistically not worth fixing. It's been my experience that electrical problems like that cost way more than they are worth. You can manually adjust the mirrors by lightly pushing on them until they click into the right place for you.
  5. I recently had a problem with my 95... when I would turn it on and be in park vibrations were coming from under the hood. When I would take off from being stopped the car wouldn't want to get into gear, and I also had a nasty burning smell. I cleaned the throttle plate and it runs like new. Hope that helps.
  6. Hello everyone... I'm new to the forum and looking to make some friends... I was wondering if there are ever any LOC meets in San Jose, CA or anywhere in the Bay Area for that matter. If anyone could let me know that'd be awesome, thanks!
  7. Hello everyone... this is my first post on this forum. I have a 95 sc400, and I am having a few problems. The first is when the A/C is on... the car drives terrible, no power at all! And when I go to turn the a/c off while the car is on, it drops my rpm's to the point where it usually dies, it's like turning my car off. The second usually happens when I'm stopped at a light or in park. The engine starts rumbling like it is running out of gas. Very seldom does it happen when I'm actually moving, but it has before. It's been kind of sluggish when I take off from being stopped, like enough gas isn't getting to the engine or something. I just replaced the throttle switch so it can't be that... I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions... Thanks!
