  1. It turns out I have two bad sensors. The oxygen sensor and an air fuel mix sensor were bad causing cylinders 2,4,6 to misfire. I'm guessing the odor was unburned fuel or something like that. I couldn't find anyone in my area to do a scan for free. The best I could find was around $70. Everyone wants to spend 30 minutes on the scan and another 30 doing who knows what. Thanks for the willingness to help it is much appreciated. All said this will cost somewhere around $600.
  2. I have a used 2001 RX300 about 117K on it. Very suddenly the check engine light and VSC lights are on. The exhaust is rumbling and there is a foul smell coming from the exhaust (I think). I opened up the hood and the engine sounds like it's running fine but a loud rumbling comes from the center of the car. My wife was driving it on the highway and she said it was sort of hesitating (tripping as she put it). Any ideas as to what the problem is?
  3. I'm having the same issue with my 2001 RX300 I bought this summer. There is definately a detailed thread about this in the forum that I read through. The heat worked all of a sudden one day but has not worked since. This was followed by the hampster noise and then nothing. I've attached a file that seems like it could be helpful for tackling the job. Another person posted this in the aformentioned thread about the servo motor. Hopefully this will help in taking the trim apart and removing the air mix servo. You have to get past the part of the manual that covers the A/C system, I think the servo section is near the end of the document. RX300index.pdf
  4. Turns out I did order the wrong parts!! A friend of mine managed to get the liftgate to open but now it won't close. Seems there are some chards of metal in the lock assembly, so I'll be ordering that part. Pictures on parts websites are primiitve so hopefully this is all that's needed.
  5. When i first posted this I had the part names wrong, I corrected them to the best of my knowledge but am not even sure if I ordered the correct parts now that they have arrived. Hopefully someone knows something about replacing these parts.
  6. I bought a used 2001 RX300 recently. The day after I bought it the liftgate wouldn't open any more. The car is unlocked and I can hear the mechanism locking and unlocking. So far I've taken off the inner carpeted panel and examined the mechanism. Even if I pull on the cable to open the liftgate nothing happens. It seems the (actuator)? won't disengage from the striker. I've ordered a new actuautor and striker. Does anyone know how to replace this part? I'm in need of some serious help here. The only other thing that I've tried was removing the four bolts at the botton near the striker, that gave about an inch of play. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
