Just Bought Rx 300 1999

Recommended Posts

Hey folks !,

I just bought a RX 300 1999 with 72K miles on it. I am not sure what kind of maintenance it is scheduled at this point. I got the oil change done at valvoline . He said radiator fluid is company's original fluid. So the old owner did not do the 60K miles check up or so. Advise what should i look for. Also sometimes dash is giving kweaky sounds. I thouhgt it is common for detroit roads. But after reading the forums. I figured he did't do it. s

Hey maverick,

Welcome and congrats on your new vehicle. Unfortunately, the previous

owner didn't do all the maintainance and upkeep. The 60K is a big expense,

runs somewhere between $800 to $1,100 for that service. My first guess, for

you, is to check with a Lexus dealership, have them run a service/maintainance

report on the VIN. If you find it's not be cared for on a regular basis, you

might have to bite the bullet, and start from scratch. The only real positive

note is the next biggie maintainance is 90K.

As for the tweaking sounds----could be most anything, maybe something

simple. Mention it to them, but don't go loopy to make it disappear. Check

the CD, and glove box---might be something loose.

i had just bought a '99 RX300 last july. My dash made squeaky sounds also. however, I found that the screws located on the underside of the upper odometer panel were loose. check if they're looseon your ride, and try tightening them. It might help reduce the squeaky sound when you're driving on bumpy roads.

Hey PharamGuy,

thanks for your response. Yeah It is 75k now, thinking of following suggestion. May be do it little sooner than 90 . I want to take it to dealer before 76k or so. since couple of days. It's started make some belt sound or something from the hood. so i guess its time for service. thank you.
