mercedes84black
Lately while working on my 91 ls400 I started driving it without the cooling fan shroud and it's running hot. Will that cause this problem. When I'm moving the temp begins to go down but stop and go driving it seems to get hot faster
TrevC
Yes, that would definitely make a difference as the air is no longer being directed through the radiator. See if refitting improves the situation
Exhaustgases
Then you have to ask yourself, why did the Lexus engineers decide to use them? Running hot? Not a problem until things start to melt. So do you think the Lexus engineers got it all figured out?
Flight_Engineer503
when you say "running hot" what do you mean..is it going 3/4 of the way up to high limit? Or just bumping up slightly over 1/2? Ive been running without a shroud in texas heat for over 2 years and its just fine. Are you still getting heat from the heater? Whats the mileage on your thermostat? Water pump leaking? did you recently open up the cooling system for maintenance?
