Hey guys I just bought a SC300 and I have a question about a squeak I get from the serpentine belt. The squeak seems to occur due to a misalignment of the pulleys, but I'm not sure how one can adjust the pulley positions. The tensioner and power steering pulleys seem further inward (toward the back of the car) than the crank pulley. The belt even hangs off the end of the tensioner a bit. Has anyone had this problem before and know how to adjust the pulley positions (or any other solution)? Thanks.

From experience, I do know that it is possible to install the belt one notch off which makes it rub and squeak. I seriously doubt that any of the pulleys are misaligned. Seems to me they would self destruct long before they lost alignment. Just make sure that the belt isn't off by one rib. Happens to the best of them. Probably a good idea to put a new one on as well.

Welcome to LOC by the way.

Well I checked the belt and I'm pretty sure its not off a rib. I did take it off though and looking at the pulleys more closely they do seem aligned properly so I guess thats not it. The tensioner pulley seems to have a bit of wobble in it though so maybe thats causing it. Here are a couple videos to better explain....

Hard to see the wobble in the video, but here is a video of me shaking the tensioner pulley and spinning it...

Here is a vid of the squeak noise. You can see the belt hanging off the tensioner...

What do you guys think?

Not you guys, just me. And not all are guys so.

All of those parts are cheap so replace them all, including the belt. Serpentine belts are pretty well know for squeaks and different brands are better and worse.

Of course it would be kind of nice to know who you are and your 20 At least make up a name and place if you are reserved. People like people.
