Gs 300 Awd Battery Light , Car Died

My GS 300 battery light came on when I started car. Drove about 15 miles the steering started to tighten and all dash lights flashed and car died

7/14 stamp on battery, bought it in July. I'm thinking alt. Got the battery charged overnight on charger. About to put it back in and try to start the car and remove positive cable to check to see if alt is working
