Well tomorrow we pick up a 1993 Hunter Green GS300. The only thing it does not have is the changer, and I noticed that the radio is different as it does not have the changer controls either. So, I need to find a CD changer equipped radio and changer.

The question is, after looking around I have found that the ES model radios look identical to the GS models of the 93-96 years. Are they identical and thus interchangeable?? Because there are a few going on eBay that I can actually afford.

Hello there,

I'm also in the process of changing my stereo. You are in luck, as first generation GS and first generation ES uses the same radio deck. Make sure you get one that have the "CD" button it. I asked several people if one of those radio deck will fit on a first generation LS, and they said no! How pity...

You will also need a 16 foot DIN cable that runs from the radio deck to the CD Changer. This cable not only provides the signal command from your radio to the changer, it also provides the electrical power as well. I think the hardest part is the cable, as Lexus dealers do not carry them as a parts list. The cable and CD changer both comes from the factory as a single unit.

You can try a Junk yard for the cable, or have someone custom make it for you.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info !!! I took pictures of the deck when I went to test drive the car and the deck I will be getting is off of eBay. The 2 pictures look identical in every regard. And yes, it has the CD changer button.

There is a user on here that makes the DIN cable, that will be the one thing that makes this difficult.

I should have some pics next week sometime, just waiting to pick up the car and get the radio delivered.

Good luck to you as well, and let me know how it goes.

Oh one more thing....after winning the bid, make you ask the seller for the radio code. This is very important. Usually the seller will clear the current code for new owner. But ask just to be safe.

I also got my LS400 radio deck from eBay. The seller was kind enough to give me the four mounting screws at no additional cost  I'm going to need it when I install the deck.

Good luck on the installation! B)
