Anjumkha
1996 LS 400 I wanted to change the serpentine belt, but I found the idler pulley making a noise. In addition The tensioner pulley is also making a slight noise. Questions: 1, How do you remove the tensioner pulley ( not the whole thing, only the pulley) , Turn clock wise or counter clockwise? 2. What is the number of the tensioner pulley bearing? I plan to replace the bearings on both , tensioner and the idler puleyy. Thanks M Khan
richardkwon
Turn the bolts left (counterclockwise) to remove.
Anjumkha
richardkwon: I removed the tensioner pulley yesterday. Before removing I found the correct answer on Lexusclub; the tensioner pulley should be turned CLOCKWISE for removal. The idler pulley bolt can be removed as any normal bolt, by turning counterclockwise
richardkwon
OK sorry, I thought you meant the actual pulley itself. Good luck and I'm sure the car will thank you for the new parts. :)
Anjumkha
I ordered the bearings from McMaster Carr. Great price.
