cenzo
I'm changing the valve cover gaskets and I picked up the Fel-Pro gasket kit that comes with the spark plug tube seals and grommets. At this point I have my passenger side valve cover out I'm looking at the old spark plug tube seals and I'm comparing them with the ones that came in the Fel-Pro pack. I'm not sure if the new Fel-Pro spark plug tube seals are going to seal very well... It seems like the old ones have more of a sealing surface (the inner portion of the seal diameter which makes contact with the outside diameter of the spark plug tube). Visually looking, the sealing surface of the old ones are roughly 4-5mm, whereas the new Fel-Pro ones have a sealing surface of roughly 0.5-1mm only. Quite different. I don't want to finish the job just to find out soon after that oil is getting past those seals, so before I try and install the new ones, I wanted to ask if anyone out there has done this job themselves, what kind/brand of spark plug tube seals they used, and how did the results come out? Do the replacement seals vary much from one brand to the next? And if so, which brand (or brands) can you recommend?
