vinnyd13 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 First time posting to your great site. I am in the process of choosing a larger SUV with a V8 engine. The 2008 GX 470 is one of the ones on my list. Any advice or things to look out for as I go through the buying process? I am leary about going older, as the driveshaft clunk issue seems to still be there in the 2007's ? Thanks, Vince

First off, the driveshaft clunk isn't a safety issue or major mechanical issue. It's just the annoyance of a "bump" feel when stopping at a stop light. They figured out a fix in 2006 (which I received and have been clunk free since then) but the ironic part is that there have been newer GX's (07-09)that have complained about the clunk too. So it's a hit and miss sort of thing. The unit you find may or may not have it. There's no other main issues about the vehicle. Make sure you check the service history at your local Lexus dealership and also check the carfax/autocheck.
