mnesbit
I have a 95 LS 400 with a ton of miles. i am looking for an engine scanner which I believe has to be a an OBD1 model as it is before 1996. Any reasonable scanners out there? Thanks, Mike
SRK
As far as I know Toyota did not produce a connector for the pre OBD2 systems that is compatible with anything other than their own proprietary scan tools. All you can do is pull codes by light flash and sequence. I recall that the US government regulators had to force them to abide by OBD2 specs or threaten that they would not be allowed to sell cars in North America. I'd be surprised if you found much, but good luck.
wanderson
I can't remember which thread it was on this forum or Club Lexus but yesterday I read a thread and someone posted a link to a DIY step by step with pics for pulling codes from an OBDI LS400. If I remember it only involved making a jumper, and the walkthru also included all the OBDI fault codes. Sorry I can't provide more.
