seaside55 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Following a serious stone strike on the cowl edge of the windshield, I had the original factory glass replaced with a Pilkington product and factory gasketing and supplies($600), rather than original factory glass($1,400.). The model is an 2007 Ultra with the pano glass roof. After parking the car for 48 hours as directed by the installer, I drove about 50 highway mi. early am in cool dark temps (45F)-noticing no discernible issues with no added background noise in the cabin. I returned mid-pm the same route in 60F temp, with cabin and glass warmed by sun, and substantial and very audible vibration at varying frequencies occurred on the A pillar edge. My nonscientific diagnosis suggests that the new glass is not seated properly, and will take this back to the installer. Any words of wisdom from my tribe would be appreciated; BTW, the installer is not a Lexus-owned operation, but is recommended by the Lexus-owned collision center. Much thanks.
SW03ES Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Gotta take it back...glass replacement is tricky. Let us know how it turns out...
