rxatkin
I JUST HAD A LEXUS DEALERSHIP INSTALL A GENUINE LEXUS TRAILER HITCH ON MY RX330. THE RX330 IS ADVERTISED AS HAVING A TOWING CAPACITY OF 3500 POUNDS. BUT WHEN I LOOKED AT THE INSTALLED HITCH, A STICKER ON IT SAYS IT HAS A MAXIMUM TOWING CAPACITY OF ONLY 2000 POUNDS. WHEN I CONTACTED LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID THAT WAS THE ONLY HITCH THEY HAVE FOR THE RX330. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN? IF SO, WHAT DID YOU DO? WHY WOULD LEXUS ADVERTISE A MAX TOWING CAPACITY OF 3500 POUNDS AND THEN DESIGN A TOWING HITCH CAPABLE OF ONLY 2000 POUNDS? THIS SMACKS OF BAIT AND SWITCH. IS ANYONE AWARE OF AN AFTER MARKET COMPANY THAT HAS DESIGNED A TOWING HITCH FOR THE RX330 CAPABLE OF TOWING 3500 POUNDS?
jeff10139
I located a hitch at JCWhitney.com, that sells for $108.00 that is a bolt on type, but if you want an actual welded on hitch with the 3500 lb. capacity, try taking it to a local hitch installer. I've had quotes with the converter installed of $450.00 to $475.00, but if you order the converter and install it yourself, it'll cost you around $200.00 bucks, if you order from JCWhitney. rojda
I had same problem. Had to replace the Lexus hitch with a Curt hitch with 3500 lb capacity. See link: http://www.hitchesonline.com/lexus_cl34_rx_330_04.htm
