sparkola Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Where is the transmission dipstick located on the 2004 GX470? I for the life of me can't see it. Noticed the radiator has a small leak and if sealant doesnt fix that I will have to change the radiator which would involve disconnecting the transmission cooling lines and I imagine topping off the tranny. Any help would be appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated. I did some checking and it appears that beginning with the 2004 model year the GX does not have a dip stick for the transmission anymore. Quote:"For 2004, the GX received a number of safety upgrades that included a roll-sensing feature for the side curtain airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and an optional rear backup camera system (for those vehicles with the navigation system installed). The transmission was upgraded to a sealed unit, requiring no maintenance and having no dipstick." Hope that helps Pete
sparkola Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 Thanks for the response. I will have to check for drain/fill plugs as "requiring no maintenance" for the transmission does not compute for me. I hope it does cause at 100000 miles, it's prolly a good time for a changing.
