ED.
Can the new, 'multifunction' key from a newer Lexus work for my 1996? On my BMW the keys have a chip in them that must be transferred over for a newer key to work. I thought that Lexus had a similar thing going on. Seem to recall something when I tried getting a key-with-remote built in for my Aunts older SC300. Both of the remotes on my LS have the part that attaches to the key ring broken so I have to carry them aside from the key; thought if I have to spend money on a new remote, might as well try a key upgrade of some kind. That way I can keep all my eyes on the same ring. If I get a new remote I will seperate everything which in the end would be my BMWs key since I am not driving it as much. Thanks.
