Navigation- No Disk Detected Error Message

Hello everyone.

I live in Houston Texas and I have a 2002 LX470 and few days back I started getting the error "No Disk Detected" and GPS wont work anymore. I like to get as much information as possible before I do anything. I heard and read on the internet many things but I like to hear your opinion before I take the DVD out etc... if there is any debugging steps that I can go thru to narrow down if the issue indeed is the drive or DVD. I have not touched the system an all I know is that the GPS was updated when I bought it few months back. Thanks in advance

Try cleaning the dvd first.

I have the same truck and had the same problem. The dealership told me I had to replace the Nav Computer. So I got a used one on eBay for $500 and got it replaced and the problem was solved. The dealer quoted me approx $5,000.
