  1. I hope you haven't done this already!!! The AHC is what makes an LX470 what it is. I had the same issue on my 2002 LX470 with over 230K miles. Mind you, I bought it 8 years ago with 32K miles, so as you can see, this car has been through a lot. That being said, I was having the same issue with my car for the past 2 years, where the front of the car was all the way at the bottom, and it felt like I would go air borne if I drove on a rough road. I went to the dealer and got the exact same answer, "It'll be $280 for diagnosis, we might have to replace the AHC system to find out if that's the issue, cost will be over four grand...yada yada yada." Anyway, I did months and months of research. During this, I changed the Suspension oil ($50 from the dealer, do not use any other oil) - No results. Then I figured, I'd bite the bullet and change both of the "Front Height Control Accumulators". I teamed up with a mechanic, and he bought them for me (at his price) from the Lexus dealer closeby for a little over $500 a piece. I took the car to him to get them replaced, thinking it'd be an all day job. Turns out, it took him one hour. It's a simple unscrewing-!Removed! back job underneath the car, and bleeding the suspension fluid so no air is trapped in them (usually this would have resolved the issue if your Accumulators are bad), but I got no results. I could feel the sweat dripping down my spine now. I had just dished over $1,000 for something that wasn't even the issue. So the mechanic looked around some more. My mistake was that I didn't get it diagnosed by him before I asked him to order the Accumulators for me. What was the find after 10 minutes of looking around? The front passenger side "Height Control Sensor" was in pieces and needed to be replaced. So he called up the dealer again and I picked it up for another $300+. After installing this, the mighty LX470 car rose it's head as it used to, when I met him the first time. MORAL OF THE STORY: GET IT DIAGNOSED THOUROUGHLY BY A TRUSTWORTHY MECHANIC BEFORE DOING ANYTHING. Total cost was a little less than $1,800 including labor (which could have been around $500). But I don't regret it a bit because it's been two months now, and I have driven the car for over 4,000 miles, and it rides 'in the air' the same way as it was riding the day I bought it. A WORD OF CAUTION and/or ADVICE: PLEASE HAVE YOUR SUSPENSION FLUID CHANGED AT EVERY 60,000 MILES TO MAKE THE AHC SYSTEM LAST FOREVER. I was never told this until I ruined it (or may be not).
  2. I have a 2002 LX 470. I have the same issue now. Any luck with this? What did you end up doing?
  3. If you are asking about changing the bulbs, it's very simple, although you have to slide under the front bumper. The procedure is the same as changing the head light bulb. 1. Rotate the plastic cover anti-clockwise and pull out.(It only rotates about half a turn) 2. Unhook the bulb from the lamp, pull out the wire that's connected to the lamp only. 3. Replace the bulb, then connect the wire, put the hook back in place and finally put the Plastic cover back and rotate it back on. I wanted to replace my regular bulb with HIDs (25 SMDs, White LEDs). I actually bought the bulbs, they fit perfectly but do not turn on, no matter what I do. I don't know if the bulbs are bad, but I purchased a pair and tried both the bulbs. Any suggestions?
  4. I have a 2002 LX470 bought @ 52,000 in 2005. It's over 220,000 miles and never had any problems at all. Only thing I had to do is the regular maintenance. One maintenance that I missed because I didn't know and no one told me was to replace the AHC Fluid every 60,000 miles. I never changed mine and now the suspension is shot, but is fixable. But it's a car for the lifetime. And white /tan is the best color they ever came out with. Always got complimented on the looks and ride of the car. Go for it!!!
  5. I bought my 2002 LX470 in 2005 @ 52,000 miles, and it never worked in mine. Never tried to fix it, but if anyone has done anytihing with it, I'd be very grateful if they'd share their knowledge.
  6. So did you find out if you have chrome under your black tvildo??? Becuase I would like to start this on mine as well ;)
  7. I can acknowledge the same problem with my 2002 LX470. I have had the same problem since don't know when. During the winter driving in New York, while I am burning hot at the driver side, the passenger is freezing. The 2002 model didn't come with separate temp. control for the driver and front passenger, so I am sure it's an issue that is seldom talked about but experienced by many.
  8. I have the same truck and had the same problem. The dealership told me I had to replace the Nav Computer. So I got a used one on eBay for $500 and got it replaced and the problem was solved. The dealer quoted me approx $5,000.
  9. I purchased 2002 LX470 in June with 52,000 miles on it, and got the same problem with Nav System saying NO DISK DETECTED. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it and said that the Navigation Computer had gone bad and if wanted to put a new one through the dealership, they would charge me a whopping $ 5,250.00. The best part was that my Lexus warranty expired at 50,000 miles and 3 years. So I went out hunting for a Nav computer over eBay and places and finally found a Nav Computer from a used car parts guy for $ 1,100.00 installed. Since then I've had no problems. So Buddy, the answer is your Nav Computer has gone bad. It's the unit under the front passenger seat in which you put the Nav Disk in. NOW MY QUESTION IS... WAS THEIR SOME BUG OR DEFECT IN THE 2002 NAVIGATION SYSTEM BECAUSE YOU ARE THE SECOND PERSON WITHIN A VERY SHORT # MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. IF THERE WAS AND NEEDS AND MAJOR RECALL, MAY BE WE COULD RE-IMBURSED ON THE EXPENSE. I WOULD LIKE TO START A TOPIC ON THIS SITE SO WE CAN FIND OUT IF ANY OTHER YOU AND ME HAVE HAD THESE PROBLEMS AND IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE
  10. DO YOU STILL HAVE THE 3RD ROW SEATS? IF YES, EMAIL ME AT KASHIFMZAI@HOTMAIL.COM
  11. I have 2002 LEXUS LX470 that I bought from an auction last month. The navigation was working fine until a few days ago, it says NO DISK DETECTED. There is a blue disk in the navigation box under the passenger seat. I even bought a different black colored disk from ebay which is a later version, but still giving me the same message. Did anyone else run across anything similar? The dealership wants to charge me a $$$DIAGNOSIS FEE$$$ and then may be they'll ask $$$BIG MONEY$$$ to fix it too. :cries: PLEASE HELPPPP !!!!!
