92 Sc400 Transmission Oil Pan And Filter Removal

Hi,

i'm looking to remove and clean the 92 SC400 transmission oil pan and clean or replace the oil filter.

In reading the service manual, one step indicates removing the front exhaust however in some of the tutorials I've read I don't recall any mention of removing the exhaust.

Has anyone needed to do this to get the pan out?

As well, is there a need to replace the filter or is it possible to clean it and is cleaning it sufficient?
