megabyt Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Aloha, I bought a 1999 LX470 about a year ago with 93K on it and my regular mechanic was able to do the recomended service with no problems. I was running the vehicle after I recently changed the oil, with the hood up to check for leaks and never did see the A/C Condenser fan start up. I put both front and rear A/C on full and waited for 10 minutes and still no Condenser fan. I notice that it starts up briefly when you start the engine but that is it. The A/C appears to work properly but my mechanic is pretty sure the fan should be working particularly when sitting at idle. We tested the fan with a 12 volt power source and it runs fine and the fuse is OK. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe the fan only comes on in extreme conditions such as the desert? Kona, Hawaii doesn't get much above 85 degrees very often but I do use it offroad on steep climbs in low range but maybe the radiator fan is enough? Thanks, Tony
NicLX470 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 As long as your A/C is blowing cold it should be ok. It usually will not kick on until after driving around a bit and everything heats up. And then again it all depends on ambient temperature and humidity.

We found a leaking sensor in the AC system so will check everything out again after that is replaced this week.
