sprocket Posted July 4, 2009 Share Posted July 4, 2009 I'm looking at picking up a Certified 2005 or 2006 Gx470. I'll be towing a boat that weighs roughly 5,200lbs over flat terrain, roughly 55 miles each way 2 to 3 times a month. If the vehicle does not include a "tow package", what will I need? When I looked at the options available on a new one, there is only the hitch (plus ball mount, etc) showing. There is no mention of wiring harness, auxiliary tranny cooler, etc. Were there any differences between the 2005 & 2006 models? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Lirettek Posted January 24, 2010 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I'm sure this is a very late response, but I had similar questions two years ago before I bought my used 2005 GX470. My boat is about 6,500 lbs. I took the chance, I don't go as far or as regular, but the GX470 pulls it just fine at reasonable speeds like 45-60 mph. However, I have brakes on the boat trailer to help. I had the Lexus towing package and wiring added at the dealership. Worth the money. The biggest jump was from 2004 to 2005 to my knowledge.
