walleyeman
I'm having some problems with my 93 Lexus with 300,000 miles. Recently I've noticed that it has had a pretty rough idle, I'm wondering what the problem is. I changed the vacuum lines and that hasn't fixed the problem. I've been searching about and I think it may be some problem wiht the Idle control valve, and I don't want to purchase a new one (I paid less for the car then the new ICD costs!), Is there any way to clean it, and where is it located? I'm very mechanical, and I'm pretty sure I won't be taking this to the dealer so I'd like to fix it myself. And also the traction control light on the dashboard is staying on, some others said that it also has something to do with the ICD. Any help is welcome! Thanks, I'm new to this site and it's awesome! Thanks, I'm new to this site and it's awesome! the rough idle MIGHT be oil in the distributor?? i battled the same problem, except it was not occurring regularly. sometimes at start up car would idle really low and feel like it might die, then idle would even out....sometimes when this happened it might sputter a bit when i'd accelerate and this was totally random and there were no warning lights to point shop in any direction?? the car would always finally drive fine.....i'm still stumped?? regarding the TRAC light, either pull the EFI fuse and then put it back, or disconnect positive battery connection for a minute or so, then reconnect; whichever is easiest. good luck gstep
