motoroil
Anyone know where to pick up the valve cover sealing washers? My old ones are beaten and bent up--they prevent a good VCG seal. Advance is the only place that can even order them here--and they're $3 a piece, times 16 total on the car (8 per valve cover), and thats $48 on friggin washers!! Anyone know a cheap way to get these? I've tried pep boys, advance, checkers, napa, and the dealer.
Rhoderman
Can you find something close at Ace Hardware in the plumbing section? Beware, you will need to know the material the seal is made of, and if it's compatible w/ oil and high temperatures. I remember some place down there in CSCO just west of Academy and south of Platte Ave. They were a good machine shop and sold parts as well. Maybe they know a good source. Another thing, can you make what you need with some permatex and some creativity? Just a thought...
motoroil
Thanks for the tip Rhoderman. I think I'm going to get them off ebay though. Looks like I can get a set with valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals and all 16 grommet for about $24. I already have the VCGs and spark plug tube seals, so I guess I'll just keep those for spares. $24 (shipped) for the grommets is the cheapest I can find. The local toyota dealer is having some kind of parts sale starting tomorrow, so I'll check with them too.
motoroil
Woohoo! Dealer had a sale! (I didn't even know parts departments did that) They sold me all 16 grommet for 1.75 each instead of the normal 2.90 :D The dealer actually saved me money over Advance Auto parts!
