trips1
I am facing the morning starting problem with my 2001 Rx300. This forum suggests cleaning the IACV to fix this. I am just wondering if i can use the CRC MAF cleaner to clean the IACV. I believe it should be fine, but wanted to check with some learned and knowledgeable people on this forum :-) If not then what cleaner should be used to clean IACV? Thanks a lot. blk_on_blk
I think it would be fine... it definitely won't hurt anything. I just don't know if it's strong enough to clean off the varnish residue. Normally carburator cleaner is used (which is what I used... worked perfectly). Either way, both are very nasty products and should be used with gloves, in a well ventalated location, and with eye protection. I put an old plastic bowl under the IACV as I cleaned it, that way nothing drips down onto the engine. Also, if you use thin latex gloves, they will probably swell with the use of the carburator/MAF cleaner. I would use heavier kitchen gloves if I were you. Other than that, it should be a pretty straight-forward remove, clean, and reassemble process.
