joeone1
I just bought a 2004 ES330 30k miles from a relative. I noticed the thump, knock when turning left and right. I found a service bulletin on NHTSA site. I brought to Lexus and they changed out the stering damper. Car feels like it should now.

SW03ES
Pretty common issue, I had the same thing done.
thapranksta
Pretty common issue, I had the same thing done. Does it matter if the car is out of warranty? I think I only have the powertrain warranty remaining on my car. It has 67k miles on the dash and I noticed the sound today.
SW03ES
You'd have to ask. Its a TSIB not a recall, so my guess would be they won't cover it if its out of warranty.

I called Lexus about this issue the other day and they basically told me "No, it would not be covered" but they also told me that it might be possible to get them to fix it but I'd have to take it to the dealer first. Go figure. <_< The nearest Lexus dealer is about 70 miles from where I live.
SW03ES
Sometimes they'll do good faith stuff after the warranty has expired.
