nyuhsuk Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I'm looking to purchase the '07 ES by the EOM but had some questions about some of the tech... 1) According to various threads here (I spent my first 4 hours at work reading through all of them), the navi seems to be quite outdated. Someone quoted it as having about a 2004ish database. I've heard that Lexus released the 6.1 version of the navi with this year's model but that's different from simply updating the roads/POI/etc. in the database, no? If so, does Lexus periodically release updates for the customer? It seems like everything and anything is getting a facelift in the DC region and I would hate to have a system direct me to wrong locations... even Google maps is sometimes out of date... 2) When I went in for a test drive the other day, I asked the dealer if the Lexus' came with an optional remote start feature embedded into the keyless fob. He told me that one was available, although it would have to be installed by the techs on site I believe. Has anyone purchased a vehicle with this option available? After reading some Toyota Avy forums, I've learned that there may be a programming issue with their system that shuts the car down once you try to get going after remote starting the vehicle. Unfortunately, when I tested the Avy's remote start, it was after I had gone on the drive so I didn't get a chance to see if the car would be ready to go once I sat in it (mind you it worked well from ~50 feet away). Any experience from someone who had this option installed at the dealer would be great. I'm afraid that even if I go aftermarket with Viper products, the Push Button start system will be incompatible with the kit.
