  1. The dashcam shuts off about a second or so after turning the car off (since the capacitor needs to drain) and the phone disconnects immediately so AFAIK, that is working as expected. I have not done more sophisticated power readings as this seems to be proof enough that the power shuts off. I drive 5 days a week, 45 miles minimum daily (~22 each way to work). And more often than not a day or so on the weekend and trips are nearly never under 5 miles each way. That was never an issue of concern either. Stumped as it sounds like a bug. I was thinking about taking battery health readings every day to see if it's something else (visor open w/mirror closed to prop up the sunshade). On a side note, does anyone have documentation stating exactly what scenarios charge the auxiliary battery? I was told the car being on but not running does not charge the auxiliary battery since no alternator exists.
  2. Ran into a battery drainage issue this past weekend. Drove my ES300h on Sunday morning and then on Monday morning, car's battery was dead and the car would not start. Symptoms included flickering lights, clicking noises, and an intermittent warning message on the display stating roughly 'Elec Access System Malfunction'. Was not sure if this was a battery issue as this is my first foray into hybrids. After Roadside Assistance came and jumped the car (I was told by Lexus not to do this myself - which I probably will just do next time), 'Check Engine' lights remained and I decided to take it in to make sure nothing was wrong. After a lengthy wait at the dealership, it was decided the auxiliary battery was completely drained and needed a full recharge. Battery diagnostics came back fine. Not sure on their end why the battery died. Car was purchased new in September 2020. Supposedly one of their most reliable and durable batteries, being a higher end gel model. Has anyone experienced this in their hybrid? A couple of notes: - Use a sunscreen on the windshield so I prop it up with my visors. One thing different this weekend as opposed to others is the fact that the mirror was left open but once the visor is fully extended, the mirror light turns off. Even if the light was on, would it drain it in a day? Or is leaving the visor open in general, mirror open or not, slowly draining the battery? - I have a dashcam (A119v3 - capacitor powered) and a phone charger plugged into the center console DC port. This should disconnect completely once the engine is cutoff no? - No other interior lights were on. - All car doors and windows were closed - both the car locks successfully and the app did not notify me of any status otherwise.
  3. Yeah, I lost my original door handle cap and the dealerships nor eBay had them. A manager literally took one off another ES on the lot and handed it to me. I have a 2007 and I think he gave me one off of a 2011. I was nervous leaving it on as it sat a bit loose for my tastes but after another 30K or so heavy highway miles, it's still there.
  4. I'm on my second set of Primacy MXV4's and I'm still loving them. TireRack all the way.
  5. Good choice Steve. I'm ordering my second set of Primacy MXV4's right now for my '07. The first set lasted me around 50K with our lovely beltway driving action.
  6. I agree with you all that Hyundai is coming around to be an excellent car for a damn good value. Didn't some major car magazine just rate the upcoming/already out Hyundai Equus as being higher rated than the friggin' LS? I only sat in the LS but I know from my experience with my ES, the LS has to be awesome. But if Hyundai's comparatively quality product can be had for much less dough, I would be hard pressed to get the Lexus. My comfort and piece of mind is what matters most. Not the amount of money I shelled out. Perhaps if Hyundai finally released their own luxury emblem like people were speculating, then perhaps people will start associating 'prestige' to the Korean car line... I sure enjoyed my weeklong Sonata loaner experience when I had my ES in the shop. Currently looking to potentially replace my ES for a RX possibly... Can they please friggin' do a major update on that car's design though? It looks generally the same for the last decade or so...
  7. I currently have the '07 ES and was wondering if there is a way to upgrade the onboard computer system to provide a way to do bluetooth audio. It would be nice to have my phone connect to both the phone and audio functions so I don't have to plug in the audio cable directly. Would this be possible somehow? I'm sure the navi updates don't provide any base system upgrades... Crossing my fingers...
  8. I've driven these cars for 13 years...true balancing tires is not rocket science, but on these cars the balance has to be PERFECT, where as on other cars if its off a little, you'll never know. I have had one shop balance them over and over again and swear they are fine when they aren't, and another shop balances them once and they're perfect. Its easy to say that you would take a $7,000 loss over something like this...but that would be crazy... Hey Steve, First off, congrats on finally upgrading your last gen ES to our gen. Secondly, are you still using Nelson at LXT for your service?
  9. Yeah, that phone thing bugs me. I wish that these BT systems in cars would have some kind of preference system for auto-pairing with phones... like look for phone #1 first before #2, #3, etc. I hate having to manually select the default phone to pair. Especially cause I usually don't notice that my wife's phone is set until after I'm moving down the street... The wife's '08 G37 auto-pairing system seems to rely on a race condition... whichever phone shows up to the car system first gets paired...
  10. I have noticed that in my '07 UL, 87 gives my engine a bit of hesitation and stutter, even when I am not accelerating that hard. I stick with 89 now.
  11. Awesome. thanks for the tip on the bulb model type. I couldn't find any real data anywhere. It's that tough eh? I'll look through my repair manual and defer it to my mechanic if necessary. Thanks again.
  12. So... I guess no one of the board replaced their Xenon headlight bulbs here themselves? I'm just wondering if it's DIY-able as I can obtain the bulbs for a good price. Thanks~
  13. Warranty is up already. Lousy 40k, 5 yr lifespan on that warranty... I meant 4 year 50k.
  14. Warranty is up already. Lousy 40k, 5 yr lifespan on that warranty...
  15. I found this bulb and wanted to confirm whether or not it is in fact the OEM bulb that comes with the '07 ES350.
  16. Looks like I didn't identify the lights properly... it's actually one of my HIDs... anyone do this replacement themselves? Or should I just go to my mech? Can the bulb itself be obtained somewhere cheap? Thanks~~
  17. Sounds like you're due for a trip to the dealer. Did it ever play? Is this a new car? Region locked?
  18. My two cents: I think the voice recognition works fantastic 99% of the times. The one thing I did notice was that the noise reduction algorithm seems to work a little 'too well' sometimes. How well? The turn signal indicator and the wiper noise is a bit louder in my car than my wife's G37's. However, I can hear all her signaling and wiper noise clearly whereas she can't hear any of mine. But the down side of it is, when it tries to rub some of that noise out, it tends to rub some of the softer tones of your voice out as well. She reported that parts of my speech were staccato. I remedied this a good deal by adjusting the microphone sensitivity higher I believe? Can't remember the exact steps but I would search the forum on that and try it to see if it helps. The only annoyance I see is the fact that you have to listen to all the junk the lady instructs you to say. I removed the speech on the initial press of the 'Talk' button through the menu system but after you input any voice command, it still makes you wait for the damn lady to speak what you already heard 1 billion times or it won't let you press the buttons you need to press. (ie. Dial by Number - after you input the number, you still have to wait for the lady to say the '##########, when you are ready, please press the talk button or press the off hook switch to dial'). And I think if you press the 'Talk' button before she finishes, it goes back to asking you for a number to dial... THAT'S frustrating.
  19. Just noticed the other day after I got out of my car that one of the daytime running lights are out. After doing a search through our forum, looks like no one really posted anything about replacing these themselves... just wanted to see if I missed something but I would really like to do this myself if possible. Any leads? Thanks in advance.
  20. Great video sir~ I noticed you mentioned in the Youtube comments section about 'larger spoiler' options. Did you get to see any? I wonder if they're talking about some wings or just a more pronounced lip... nice... nice... NICE...
  21. Beautiful. I wonder if the Nav system is still Denso. I love their system over the Toyota and Infiniti systems... the LCD is gorgeous...
  22. After reading an ad that the dealership in Rockville sent me, I was tempted to trade my '07 UL in for this new one... oh man Steve... you shoulda just said nothing!
  23. When I purchased my '07 ES350 back in August '07, the recall was already in effect for the all-weather floor mats. The dealer gave them to me free of charge, just as long I used them in the correct way. The problem with the floor mat was that there were no spikes on the bottom side in case you intentionally/accidentally did not hook them in. But the dealer was saying that the larger problem seemed to be a lot of owners decided to place the mats just on top of the standard carpet ones. Although the instructions directly say to remove the others and hook the all weathers in, these people laid them on top and eventually those spikeless/hooked-in-less suckers moved underneath the brake/accelerator pedals and caused all kinds of brouhaha when you couldn't depress/release either pedal respectively. In the end, a combination of user error and failure of Toyota/Lexus to compensate for the full stupidity of owners caused this recall.
  24. Myself and at least one other forum member has started a topic on this same issue but haven't received any substantial response other than another forum member trying to sell me a product. I haven't done much research on it but the member (lexus-tech) swears that the Crimestopper system works with the ES350 and he had done it before. I would do some research and see if this system will do what you want. I called Viper directly about 6 or so months back and they specifically said that they didn't have any guaranteed systems that function with remote start vehicles. That may have changed since then. I am probably going to put the remote start functionality on the shelf until my warranty expires. I am already at 39k+ after 21 months...
  25. Or for a cheaper alternative, purchase a v7.1 (released late 2007) disc and it only briefly shows the warning message before disappearing and revealing the map view. I bought mine off eBay around the end of 2008 for $25. I would think v8.1 would still be fairly expensive as it was just released at the end of 2008.
