ES350tl Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Where is the oil filter located on a ES350?do you have a picture to show it? I do not have a picture. However, I wanted to learn how to change my own oil on my 2007 ES 350. So I took my car to the Lexus dealership for an oil change and told them the truth: I may want to change the oil myself after this oil change. The mechanic put the car on the lift. Underneath, he showed me that the oil filter is at the right front of the car. You can access it from the bottom up without having to remove one of those black plastic covers. However, the paper filter and gaskets are all you replace. The ES 350 has a permanent metal housing that looks like an oil filter. You need to spend $35 or so to buy a "special service tool" from the dealer. Stick that tool onto a socket wrench and then unscrew the top of the permanent metal housing. Do this slowly to let the oil drip out until it is drained. A replacement kit comes with a paper filter, two O-rings, and a plastic gizmo. There are two ways to drain the oil, and both work. Simple way is to unscrew the main cap. The second way is to take the disposable plastic gizmo that came with the filter. Apparently, if you stick that into the center of the cap on the permanent housing, oil will come running out. Once it drains, you then remove the permanent housing cap and replace the filter and O-rings. Best bet is sweet talk you way into the mechanic's area and get a first-hand lesson. It is easy once you learn it.
